Longtime lurker here, just raising my head above the parapet to draw your attention to the fact that Caitlyn Jenner is going to be on The Last Leg on Friday.

I stopped watching that show because they're quite misogynistic really. It was pretty obvious something like this would happen.

madja · 17/08/2018 23:11

They weren't especially welcoming of CJ though, I didn't think. You could see LA rolling her eyes constantly. Quite amused by that tbh.

IfIWasABirdIdFlyIn2ACeilingFan · 17/08/2018 23:14

So what was CJ actually on for? What are they promoting?

holidaylady · 17/08/2018 23:15

I started watching half way through. Did LA talk at all? I didn't see her say anything at all. I think she's fab and was curious to hear her, and disappointed to hear nothing.

Just seemed like typical -woman being ignored and talked over - type of situation. Sad. But unsurprising.

IfIWasABirdIdFlyIn2ACeilingFan · 17/08/2018 23:24

She did a brief bit about her tour dates when asked and how she felt about Corbyn.

Tbh it felt like she was holding a lot back.

holidaylady · 17/08/2018 23:34

She did look like she had a lot of thoughts she was not expressing. Pity

TiredPony · 17/08/2018 23:36

Did Lily look at Caitlyn once?

MipMipMip · 17/08/2018 23:41

Yes CJ did look at Lily. I liked Lilly's "I've learnt this one now " when CJ didn't fancy answering s question and tried to pass it over.

Lots of eye tolling, should habe watched from the start instead of just listening.

"Literally in the hole"?! Either CJ meant the innuendo or doesn't know what literally means. Grin

TiredPony · 17/08/2018 23:46

Am on +1 so sorry, this was talked about a bit upthread but I'm glad CJ said it was fine for Jack Whitehall to play the gay Disney character and supporting Eddie Redmayne in the Danish Girl. I'm not sure how well it would have been received on Social Media if Lily had said the same words. I would like to know CJ's views on Scarlett Johansson's trans role and her pulling out of the role because of the backlash.

thebewilderness · 18/08/2018 00:14

Scarlett Johansson was producing a film about a Lesbian, not a transgender. This forcible post mortem transitioning of historical figures has got to stop.

TiredPony · 18/08/2018 00:33

Sorry @thebewilderness, I meant that the backlash was that the role should have gone to a transgender actor, hence the "trans role" comment. Oh fuck, now I am confused. Genuinely. Should it have gone to a transgender actress? This is such a minefield.

TiredPony · 18/08/2018 00:36

I'm tired and now wondering if I have wrongly worded that post too. I'm sorry if I have.

thebewilderness · 18/08/2018 00:40

It isn't you. These same advocates for forcible transitioning the dead have transition Joan of Arc and dozens of others.
Cokies Law: It doesn't matter if it is true or not. It's out there.

DottyBlue2 · 18/08/2018 00:48

What? Are people saying that Joan or Arc was originally a man? Who wore women's clothes?

Or a woman who self ID'd as a man?

thebewilderness · 18/08/2018 01:11

Joan has been declared a transman by authority of the trans borg.

NotMeOhNo · 18/08/2018 01:17

Because a real woman wouldn't stand up like that. Only a man would do that.
Apparently.

greenlanes · 18/08/2018 01:26

Actually it was much better than I thought it would be. Because every time cj mentioned trans Adam hills pretty much swerved it. The last leg team were clearly making sure the programme didn't get derailed. The questions to cj about sport role models and the sport events were very fair I felt.

But yes la's body language was interesting. I am actually not that keen, I don't think she has a lot of interest to say; plenty to say but not a lot of note. I am not sure that she is fast enough for a show like last leg, whereas cj did hold her own quite well.

They annoyed me the other week when jo brand talked about someone forcing her to kiss them and Adam hill minimised it with a joke re Donald trump. #lovejobrand

FourFriedChickensDryWhiteToast · 18/08/2018 11:27

Lily Allen has gone up in my estimation - love the eye rolling...

2rebecca · 18/08/2018 19:07

I just watched this and felt silly as I'd hurriedly read the thread whilst trying to do something else (I can't do multi-tasking, it's a recipe for chaos) and got my Lilys muddled up. Was looking forward to seeing Lily Madison rolling eyes at Caitlyn and being funny and going up in my estimation. I have a Lily Allan album as well so it's not as though I'm an old dearie who doesn't know who she is.
I thought it was OK. Shame they didn't talk about women's sport at the olympics but that's maybe too awkward for Caitlyn although I'm impressed Caitlyn didn't feel the need to spout the Authorised Version of trans theology on everything. It does sound as though Caitlyn's whole life is now bound up with being an amazing trans spokesperson though. I preferred Lily's "I don't want to be a role model I want to be me" approach.
Felt a bit sorry for Caitlyn for still looking and sounding like a bloke in drag despite having spent a fortune on the process. I really don't get what being "really a woman" is all about. It's really not that different to being a man except the biological stuff and being expected to be more passive and lesser.

AppleScoop · 18/08/2018 19:59

I was open to Lily Allen before last night but her refusal to address the question about Corbyn and anti-semitism really bothered me and undermined anything else she could offer The Last Leg.

Definitely thought Jenner's comments about Eddie Redmayne were interesting.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 18/08/2018 20:15

I thought Lily Allen looked thoroughly uncomfortable, sitting next to CJ.

madja · 18/08/2018 21:30

When CJ hugged LA at the end I laughed at LA face. She then got as far away as she could. CJ was getting as close as possible throughout the show and LA was obviously uncomfortable, (as you would be with anyone invading personal space like that)
I also thought LA had more to say, but CJ was very me,me,me as though every question was for CJ to answer.
Interestingly they did skate over all her trans musings.

IfIWasABirdIdFlyIn2ACeilingFan · 18/08/2018 21:34

I find it interesting that CJ was told not to say they liked Eddie redmayne playing that role. Surely people are allowed individual opinion? I mean I’m a woman but I don’t represent all women, I get to have my own opinions and when I give one, no-one assumes I’m speaking for all women. Why aren’t trans women allowed an opinion of their own? Do they always have to tow the trans party line because they happen to be trans?
