Magnificent!
Aretha Franklin paying homage to Carole King - brilliant women and a wonderful song. Smile

Just sublime Flowers

noeffingidea · 13/08/2018 16:54

Aretha is very poorly, sadly. Just to let you know Sad

FermatsTheorem · 13/08/2018 18:03

Awesome clip.

So sorry to hear Aretha is so unwell.

QuestaVecchiaCasa · 13/08/2018 18:07

Thank you OP and thank you Aretha.

I used to play that song in the days following the birth of my first born when I was feeling very bruised and battered following a long labour which ended in a forceps delivery. I was able to stand and sway in my lounge to that song with my lovely newborn in my arms. Bliss.

My admiration for Aretha is huge. Amazing voice. Very sad to hear she's not well. That was an amazing performance.

persister · 13/08/2018 18:20

Another big admirer of Aretha. One of my desert island discs would have to be this www.youtube.com/watch?v=VtUWs6muGzg - two talented, amazing, strong women performing together, wonderful.

Popchyk · 13/08/2018 18:25

Do right woman, do right man.

That's my fave of Aretha's. Just perfect.

AncientLights · 13/08/2018 19:39

I was just looking Aretha up on Wiki - so it must be true - and it seems she had 2 kids by the time she was 15, the first at 12.

I hate the demonisation of young mothers (and very young ones), who probably didn't freely choose that path, and I just wanted to say that Aretha shows how life can hand you a raw deal and you can still come out of it glowing. Of course, having a massive talent like hers helps ....

womanspeaking · 13/08/2018 21:47

I've just seen that she's very ill - thank you for posting this earlier OP. I've had a great afternoon reminding myself of her outstanding music. How many women's lives has she touched.

Noqont · 13/08/2018 22:08

WaddIelikeapenguin · 13/08/2018 22:12

That's beautiful. Tears pouring down my face.

chatwoo · 14/08/2018 11:11

I saw this for the first time, very recently. Absolutely top notch and I love that she did her trademark dropping of the fur coat.

hipsterfun · 14/08/2018 13:29

As the video in the OP has gone, reposting for those who may not have seen it.

scepticalwoman · 16/08/2018 15:19
