A police officer and a govt lawyer have been convicted of child abuse. They were caught after sharing the images online.

Awful cases. But at least they have both got long sentences.

And this is exactly why it's dangerous to dismantle or weaken any safeguarding procedures. Abusers infiltrate wherever they can.

But reading Anna Salter's book 'Predators' (recommended on here), I'm astonished and terrified by quite how much sexual abuse of children (and women) goes on.

And this is exactly why it's dangerous to dismantle or weaken any safeguarding procedures. Abusers infiltrate wherever they can.

In 'Predators', Salter says "Sex offenders only very rarely sneak into a house in the middle of the night. More often they come through the front door in the day, as friends and neighbors, as Boy scout leaders, priests, principals, teachers, doctors and coaches. They are invited into our homes time after time, and we give them permission to take our children on the overnight camping trip, the basketball game, or down to the Salvation Army post for youth activities."

I am concerned that the article focussed on how they used social media to make contact and share info; but no mention of how predatory men use any organisation to make contact and find victims.

Yes to both of you. It's as though we are deliberately forgetting everything we have learned. I'm getting more and more worried about all this.

12 years is surely not a long enough sentence for raping a toddler. FFS how evil are these people.

And of course self-ID would allow predators like him to follow the girls into the women's changing rooms at the pool.

Just about to post follow up letter to an MP in response to a letter from him where he advises me that "Gender neutral toilets are more inclusive". Yes, that will be inclusive of predators and paedophiles like these two as well as the Scottish young man filming and assaulting young girls in supermarket toilets.

12 years in prison is hardly a proportionate response to such a despicable crime. Not much of a deterrent is it?

These people deliberately get into positions of power and responsibility so they can abuse children and get away with it. The ones that generally get caught seem to lack any intelligence, charisma or charm so it feeds the perception that you can tell who is a pedo by looking at them.

Are you aware how police officers are generally treated in prison, much less paedophile ones? He'll almost certainly be placed in solitary for his own protection.

It's fascinating how, after decades of listening to children and pupil engagement, it is now demanded of schools by adult lobby group that they compromise children's safety and rights to privacy and dignity. It's that old #nodebate isn't it when you remove safety for children?
