... with his grandad, no less.

In the car today, he saw a pink motorbike with a male rider.

"ooh, grandad, a motorbike!" He said.

"That's a girl's bike," says grandad.

"No it's not, it's just a bike." Ds replies.

"But it's pink!"

"The car in front is blue and a woman is driving it. It's not a boy's car because of the colour, it's her car because she's driving it!"

I have had a warm glow ever since witnessing this exchange today. My son is 11. This is the future, my friends. One open minded kid at a time. Give them the words and the confidence to see through the lies and see what they will do.Smile

Not only it is not a girl's bike (cos it's pink), the person riding it is not a girl because they are riding a pink bike

IAmInsignificunt · 08/08/2018 02:25

Nice work, kid!

Bowlofbabelfish · 08/08/2018 06:05

Applause. Good lad.

This is how the future changes - one well raised, critically thinking child at a time :)

TransplantsArePlants · 08/08/2018 06:21

Well done your son

As an aside, the first person I spoke to about the TRA and the Labour Party was my dad. He got it straight away

FloralBunting · 08/08/2018 08:02

I'm so glad you all appreciate it! I was sitting in the back and my dad turned to me and said "I suppose this is from you?" with a twinkle in his eye, and tbh, yes, it is, but not explicitly - this was DS applying all the stuff he's heard me saying to a situation all by himself. To someone he considers an authority figure, too. I'm still smiling.

Good for your son!
Both my boys really like pink. I often feel worried when they choose pink things, but I keep it to myself. I just don't want them being bullied!
Having said that, we visited a Speedway track on holiday and all the children were offered a free whistle. Both mine chose pink. We found some seats and another family turned up and their boy had a pink whistle too.
