Both a lighthearted and helpful thread (for those scratching their heads as to where some of the in-jokes have come from).

First up, Snappity's "helpful" suggestion of 15 July 2018, after the point was raised that transwomen were disproportionately winning at women's sports. Why not make 'ducking under a bar' some kind of recognised Olympic event? Why not indeed.

Yes, I am suggesting promoting things like the beam.

Most sports have been designed by men and give men a natural advantage. That's why we end up with separate women's events because the disadvantage to women is inherent in the rules of the sport which is why, even when we get separate events for women they are usually seen as lesser than the men.

Women should be designing and promoting sports where they have a natural advantage over men, or neutral. So instead of running over hurdles, have ducking under a bar so that height is a disadvantage.

If women can't see that sports have been designed to disadvantage women and that the answer is to design sports that eliminate that disadvantage then I despair. I thought this was a feminism section - so design and promote sports which suit women not men.

Thanks Snappity, that was swell.

Not to be outdone, genderskeptic (30 July 2018) ups the ante to war crimes and the Geneva Convention, unless trans (and everyone else) have an all-access pass into all women's spaces.

I would remind everyone that trying to deny the rights of trans people for the actions of an individual meets the definition of collective punishment, a war crime under the Geneva convention.

Who cares if a few women and girls get harmed, ammirite?

This was followed a mere six days later (5 Aug 2018) by ADarkandStormyKnight, who suggests that all the problems of mixed sex sleeping arrangements can be resolved by "sturdy pyjamas". I don't know why we mere women had not thought of this before! Pure genius.

Really? I would be fine with that, and would just pack some sturdy pyjamas to save anyone from seeing anything they don't need to. It's a public hall, with several people sleeping in it. What do you think might happen?

Please, keep those greatest hits coming! They're a hoot and a half!

Snappity is hairy handed surely? No one would suggest ducking under a bar as an Olympic level sport in any seriousness.

Would you consider supplying curtains too: hospital & shower have been identified as key? No mention of sturdiness requirement.

Women's Homeless Hostel California following alleged sexual assualts on women by a self identified transwoman during communal shower. There is a court case pending, but reported:
"One possible solution is already in place: Poverello House administrators say they added shower curtains about four months ago."

UHSM (University Hospital South Manchester) Dignity & Privacy Policy re same sex accomodation policy:
V3 trans paragraph update, advice from 'Tara Hewitt Equality & Diversity Advisor, 5 Boroughs Partnership NHS Trust- trans gender:

"Different genital or breast sex appearance is not a bar to this, since sufficient privacy can usually be ensured through the use of curtains or by accommodation in a single side room adjacent to a sex-appropriate ward"

privacy focus here is solely for the person who is transgender

''Is that you Liam?''

There are several people called Liam who post online in various styles and for different organisations.

I'll get the R&D department right on it.

QueasySqueezy · 06/08/2018 13:03

Sturdy Pjamas indeed! 😂

FloralBunting · 06/08/2018 13:25

Oh yes, Dance - aggressively threatening poses to show up all those GC feminists wandering round the streets with weapons and tattoos and t-shirts that call for the death of trans-people.

One of the more imaginative versions of 'look what you made me do' I've come across.

A while ago Stephen Whittle came to Mumsnet and said that we need not be concerned by the Guides having mixed sex tents as Guide leaders could take a supply of condoms on camping trips.

I think most of us felt that rather missed the point...

Seriously?

All these years, I didn't know women and girls could entirely prevent sexual assault/rape by brandishing condoms.

Thanks for that link. It was an epic read...

R0wantrees · 06/08/2018 16:46

I've never managed it Vicky!

LangCleg · 06/08/2018 16:48

That thread is spectacular. It certainly spoke volumes.

Yes I do believe there was a bit of what MNHQ would consider a "pile on" over that.

Alicethroughtheblackmirror · 07/08/2018 17:33

I loved the ducking under the bar Olympics. I think we also established that if you were over 5'8" you weren't a real woman (which will come as to a terrible shock to my sister - not to mention her DH and DC).

It's Tall Exclusionary Radical Feminism.

FloralBunting · 07/08/2018 21:56

I think that was connected to the well observed fact that transwomen are generally under 5' 8" which pointed to a genetic component. I can't recall the exact wording, but it was presented as recently discovered research discovery and had me chuckling for some time.

Ereshkigal · 07/08/2018 21:58

Apart from 6'3 Jane Fae, who will be disadvantaged in the Ducking Under a Bar event.

thebewilderness · 07/08/2018 22:38

We may be looking at another round of media stories about roving gangs of Lesbians with pink guns.
