"We've heard that enforcement of the Equality Act isn't working. Today we're launching an inquiry to find out why not and what needs to change. If you have information that can help us answer these questions, you can find out more and submit evidence here:

Sounds like the City of London and other councils need to examine their policies of gender identity's primacy.

Done this. I've been putting it off as I didn't feel equipped to answer the questions. But suddenly realised the deadline was tomorrow and felt I had to do it. Not sure I have done it well but hopefully haven't broken any of the rules about presentation and so on.

Hopefully the sheer weight of voices saying very similar things will be enough to make someone think.

Fretted a bit about the whole anonymity issue but decided not to ask for it. So many brave women have put their identities out there I felt I had no justification for trying to hide.

I need to own my opinions.

Me too.

I spoke only about the rights of women and the needs of women - it's horrifying that to do so makes me have to stop and think about becoming a target for violence. When I'm submitting evidence to my own government in my own country about the law currently in place for pete's sake.

heresyandwitchcraft · 04/10/2018 23:43

Bump

haXXor · 05/10/2018 00:59

They want it in word format. I don't even use windows, let alone have word. FFS. I thought the govt were meant to use the Open Document Standard now.

haXXor · 05/10/2018 01:06

OK, there is a tiny question mark and if you hover it says that they take odt files. Web accessibility isn't their strong suit, my eyes don't like small symbols as I get older.

haXXor · 05/10/2018 01:10

Done. I'm considering it a warm-up for the big GRA push I have planned for this weekend.

ILuvBirdsEye · 05/10/2018 08:44

Done.

Phew... I am always on the last day. Am sure I missed out stuff but at least I got it in.

2BorNot2Bvocal · 05/10/2018 09:12

Done.

MsJeminaPuddleduck · 05/10/2018 10:14

Done - this thread was very useful. Thanks all

OrchidInTheSun · 05/10/2018 11:14

Thanks everyone for your help - just submitted by response.

PencilsInSpace · 05/10/2018 11:48

FPFW rebirth report has lots of useful quotes about the difficulties applying the exception (page 23 onwards)

arranfan · 05/10/2018 12:20

I had a go in the wee smalls - GC Davies thread also very helpful (as recommended by Lady Justice:

Tidying up - and then I have put out a bat signal to friends as my home set-up doesn't have Word and I'm not sure a Notepad document is quite the thing. When I get back tonight, I'm hoping to have arranged someone will be here and I can format the document on their machine and send it.

arranfan · 05/10/2018 12:35

Ancient Apple User with no Windows.

Very unsmart phone.

I'm hoping bat signal is answered.

EmpressAdultHumanFemale · 05/10/2018 12:59

Done.

2BorNot2Bvocal · 05/10/2018 13:13

If anyone is worried about their privacy in submitting a response you do not have to give an address. You can submit with your name, a phone number and just an email address.

arranfan · 05/10/2018 13:54

I will say that once you start writing, the grief of this is overwhelming, as unbidden, the examples flood into your mind.

WatchThePotatoesBoil · 05/10/2018 15:08

Don't know if anyone has mentioned this:

You are not allowed to publish your submission publically once submitted - so please don't cut-and-paste stuff you submitted on to mumsnet as that could compromise its consideration.

LadyJustice · 05/10/2018 17:25

Bump!

Have yours in by midnight tonight.

Barracker · 05/10/2018 17:29

Done. Not my finest work though.

Manderleyagain · 05/10/2018 18:27

Done too. I also decided against anonymity.

arranfan · 05/10/2018 21:23

Bat signal was answered and I've submitted.

PencilsInSpace · 31/10/2018 17:52

First evidence session was this morning. Single sex exceptions were discussed.

Witnesses: Karon Monaghan QC, Barrister, Catherine Rayner, Chair, Discrimination Law Association, and Sam Smethers, Chief Executive, Fawcett Society

Video of the whole session

Bits discussing sex, gender, GRA, single sex exceptions -

9 minutes near the start
6 minutes near the end

Imnobody4 · 31/10/2018 18:41

Will have to watch the whole thing. But thought the woman from Fawcett Society was good. Got annoyed at the jibes at twitter and idea that women don't really understand. Thanks for links to segments.

ThePrincipal · 31/10/2018 19:11

My blood runs cold upon opening that link.

The absence of SEX is screaming at me.
