counter to mermaids?

Just wondering if there is a group like mermaids but for potentially gay young people. As I feel after reading about some of the de-transing articles and care that we aren't two steps of separation from gay conversion.

It's tricky because there are now no LGB groups that are not LGBT, and the T always takes centre stage.

There's a Magdalen Berns video about her being banned from even national student groups simply for being a lesbian who says that there's no such thing as a lesbian with a penis. .

If you're gay I'd imagine the T bit wouldn't shove you aside so much. Lesbians are being told that refusing to date transwomen is transphobic. It says a lot about how sexist society still is that a man doesn't have to justify his sexual boundaries, but women do.

The trouble is that among the "progressive" young, an accusation of transphobia is social death. You'd be more likely to make friends if you were a neo-nazi. So everyone is too intimidated to even share doubts about the ideology.

I have been following the 'get the l out'etc and supportive on the twitter front. This is because there is a local facebook town post and its becoming a bit cult transy.

Hate to break this to you Breaking but if you're child is exploring 'potentially gay' there's a whole tsunami of 'you're potentially trans unless you're following gender stereotypes' stuff online.

Thankfully for all those people who were worried about welcoming gay people into their lives now have another outlet which rationalises gay people as 'not gay' but just 'not the right 'gender'' so, once you've been able to slot them into the right 'gender' box, they won't be scarily gay, but just 'born into the wrong body' and therefore only needing hormone blockers, new hormones and surgery to align to the 'not gay' stuff.

Oh, and I'd ignore Prawn's link - Magdalen is just a penis-aversion person. I'm sure she'll be quoshed by the 'T' at some point in the future. She's just sooo 'old school lesbian'.

(Disclaimer: I love Magdalen, and have a small crush on her!)

Is not my child, someone posted a video where a doctor was talking about genders and just the trans side is being posted. Already been one 'that's transphobic' comment.

I find it concerning that it seems to be another route to putting people in straight boxes.

That's as good a one-sentence summary of the current madness as I've seen.

There's definitely a homophobic element to Mermaids. Plus you get religious conservatives who would prefer a transgirl to a gay son, whether they're Evangelicals from the Bible Belt or Muslims in Iran.

My local LGBT community have all drunk the Kool-Aid. They’re all totes queer, nonbinary pansexuals, apart from the gay guys, who seem completely unaffected.

Prawn I had similar thoughts about the conservative right and Jenner in America, home grown machismo football player, being trans is OK vs being gay.

That is a bit sad to hear hotrocker.
