Margaret Hodge lawyers up

And posts the whole shebang on Twitter.

I thought that this deserved a thread of its own. Seems like it will run and run.

Sounds like Labour have totally screwed up sending a letter. You'd think that given the amount of complaints about Labour members, they could at least manage that. But no.

Labour seem to have contravened their own rules by not citing what the allegation actually is, nor how the alleged incident breached their rules. And which rules were allegedly breached.

The letter then goes on to threaten her about further disciplinary action if she repeats "the allegation above". And of course there is no allegation above.

I particularly liked the "The haste in which you sent your letter is reflected in the sloppiness of its contents, which defies recognised standards of due process relating to investigations" from the lawyers.

Look out Jezza.

Margaret Hodge is not taking this lying down.

More hollow laughter from over here. What planet is McDonnell on if he thinks Margaret Hodge is going to back down on this one? I reckon she's got bigger ovaries than he has balls, and it's a matter of principle, and it's a matter of her whole heritage (and the fact that I think it was 5 out of 6 of her father's family died in concentration camps). McDonnell is in complete cloud cuckoo land if he doesn't understand this.

PilarTernera · 25/07/2018 13:45

McDonnell is in complete cloud cuckoo land if he doesn't understand this.

I think he must know that she won't back down. He is saying it so he can appear magnanimous.

FermatsTheorem · 25/07/2018 13:52

That's true, Pilar. McDonnell strikes me as one of the scariest of the Bromentum goons - utterly doctrinaire, authoritarian, divorced from reality and nasty with it. The thought of him in government scares the shit out of me.

placemats · 25/07/2018 13:55

I would posit that McDonnell's balls are hanging as low as Corbyns' now. They may well play with them in the bath.

placemats · 25/07/2018 13:56

With a yellow duck.

LineRunner · 25/07/2018 14:25

Time for Maximus Keirus Starmerus to assemble the Praetorian Guard, I feel.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 25/07/2018 14:46

I think the code they want adopting sounded like a version of the Yogyakarta Treaty, that nearly makes it impossible to criticise the Israeli govt. and their systematic erasure and cruel treatment of the Palestinians for years and years. I've been to the Gaza Strip a number of years ago and it was a concentration camp even back then, with the Israelis controlling water, power, borders, passports etc.

To me, the Palestinians could be women in 50 years time.

I'm becoming more of a free speech advocate than trying to impose more fucking political correctness.

Why is this thread on the feminism section? there is nothing remotely feminist or inspiring about Margaret Hodge.

beachfrontparadiso · 25/07/2018 15:08

Evidence of her obstructing child abuse allegations rhythm? You can’t spout stuff like that without citing evidence as it’s a vicious slur.

RhythmStix · 25/07/2018 15:16

It isn't a 'vicious slur'; it's been proven many times over. Hodge even 'apologised' for it. Look it up in the Times, The Guardian, the BBC or the Independent and read all about it. Oh and while you are at it perhaps you'd also like to read about how her family profits from shares in offshore tax havens she herself has criticised in the past. It's really quite an achievement, getting to where she is after her catalogue of corruption and sleaze.

beachfrontparadiso · 25/07/2018 15:20

I've searched through 4 pages of results rhythm so whatever you're saying it doesn't amount to her deliberately working hard to obstruct child abuse cases.

TheCountessofFitzdotterel · 25/07/2018 15:38

'Why is this thread on the feminism section? there is nothing remotely feminist or inspiring about Margaret Hodge.'

Because feminism is about equality for all women not just the inspiring ones.

beachfrontparadiso · 25/07/2018 15:40

I’ve read your first one - your comment is a massive misrepresentation, she didn’t work hard to obstruct justice, they say that claims weren’t investigated - we don’t know why and there is no evidence she was running a campaign to obstruct justice.

Exactly which we are you talking about rhythm? You're the only person asserting that Hodge deliberately obstructed justice.

ConfessionsOfTeenageDramaQueen · 25/07/2018 19:37

What's been interesting about the Hodge episode - and why this thread should be in feminism - is because so many male accounts of what took place characterise her as "shrieking" or "screaming" at Corbyn.

Because, y'know, angry women aren't capable of saying things calmly.

ICJump · 26/07/2018 10:36

@pastabest thanks for the link. It sounds really full on. I’m glad Venice is a brave strong woman but I wish she didn’t have to face such rubbish.

RhythmStix · 26/07/2018 21:32

How amazing - and not in a good way - that some posters are actively ignoring Margaret Hodge's outrageous corrupt history for the sole reason that she is a woman. Shame on you for your collusion.

Popchyk · 26/07/2018 21:55

Rhythm, I started the thread because I felt that the disciplinary procedure initiated by the Labour Party against her was worthy of a discussion. We've had a few threads on here about the Labour Party and other issues so I wanted a separate thread so we don't get confused. That's just the background to this.

By all means you should start a new thread about Margaret Hodge's "outrageous corrupt history" if you'd like to. Then people can focus on that.

Just a word of warning - with two deletions already on this thread, I'd suggest that you tread carefully if you don't want to be banned by MNHQ. They are a bit trigger happy at the moment. I didn't report your comments by the way but obviously somebody did.

I hope you take this post in the way that it is intended.

I can ask MNHQ to change the title of this thread to Margaret Hodge - Labour Party Disciplinary if you'd like. Then it makes it clear.

RhythmStix · 27/07/2018 07:55

Understood Popchyk, but the problem is that the thread is in the feminist section. M Hodge is complaining about something which has nothing to do with her gender so I fail to see how it can be represented as a feminist issue.

In any case, I couldn't give a toss if Hodge is a) a female or b) Jewish - she is still a vile specimen IMO. I would say exactly the same about her if she were a man. Or another religion.

The deletions were chased and urged by beachfrontparadiso who didn't like being called out on their support of MH and their denial of Hodge's wrongdoing, even when I provided well documented evidence and newspaper reports from recognised sources.

Popchyk · 27/07/2018 09:45

Thanks for responding Rhythm.

I understand the strength of your feeling on this.
