I am very much a lurker on these boards but appreciate the much more intelligent and articulate women than me debating the current trans issues - I sort of got into it a bit with a colleague (friendly!) last night and promised to send her some articles outline exactly what the problem is with it all - does anyone know of any articles that really succinctly outline everything that I can send to her?

This one sets out the problems with gender identity ideology in point form. IMO it is the best introduction for people new to this argument:

I just stumbled across this cover of a magazine that is titled „Gender Revolution“. It‘s not an article, but the cover pictures seven persons, one labelled as „male“, not a single one „female“.
I think it‘s a kind of Freudian slip that shows the disconcern with, or even the erasure of, the female.

I think the conflict in the situation outlined here, its fairly straightforward and obvious:

This is also very significant:

James Kirkup's articles are good (they have embedded links in)

The Economist recently ran a series of 12 essays from a number of perspectives:

The Guardian had two articles which give an indication of different perspectives:

Janice Turner has been writing about this for a long time:

There are also problems from a transsexual perspective. Here is something I wrote. quillette.com/2018/03/30/plea-trans-activists-can-protect-trans-rights-without-denying-biology/

R0wantrees · 24/07/2018 21:22

Debbie Did you write one of the Economist essays too?

@R0wantrees. Yes.

DebbieInBirmingham · 24/07/2018 22:30

Also peaktrans.org is a very comprehensive resource.

R0wantrees · 24/07/2018 22:30

There' s another really good article by Helen Saxby that I've just read.

Its an extended version of the speech she recently gave at WPUK Brighton:

Indierockandroll · 25/07/2018 00:04

Hi. I'm new too (as woefully apparent in most of my posts, including one humdinger today where I well and truly got the wrong end of the stick.

I'm going to try to butt out more, as the level of debate on here far exceeds my capabilities, though I can nod profusely and wholeheartedly support those posters who've shone a spotlight of sanity on this debate - sorry about earlier Lino Grin)

This is useful, as it covers some of the typical arguments posed by trans activists and some of the countering arguments posed by the GC.

Indie not sure what happened, but do stay and keep posting.

I agree with you that Kathleen Stock has written some really good articles, she also contributed one of the Economist essays.

"Here's a thread, individually listing all my online writings to date on disputes between trans activists and feminists; on the silencing of complicating voices about this, both within Universities & outside them; & other related matters. Most are around under 12 minute reads"

Kathleen Stock and Debbie Hayton were also both recently interviewed on SKY news.
