I didn't know this, but apparently at the weekends, Neville gives control of his twitter account over to an activist.

Last night, a TRA was posting from hos account. It was the usual TRA rubnish about how people are trying to take away their rights, provoke them to react violently and, worst of all, giving the TRA version of what happened at Speaker's Corner.

Cue angry feminists replying to counteract the lies, TRAs coming in to say "stop trying to silence trans voices" and "we do get abuse" and a cameo appearance from Adrian Harrop.

What a shit fest.

There's some background in the interview he gives to The Guardian:

www.theguardian.com/sport/2018/jun/04/neville-southall-flak-sex-workers-lgbt-issues

Its been going on for a while with different people posting.

busyboysmum · 23/07/2018 18:15

How ridiculous. Dishonest.

bd67th · 23/07/2018 18:19

I'll lob a few quid in the pot as well if @Skepticat wants to sue.

Procrastinator1 · 23/07/2018 18:29

What did Dr Adrian say? Southall seems a bit of a useful idiot, others truly malevolent, would be nice to include them in any action. Perhaps Southall could give up his twitter to the victim at Speaker's Corner to say sorry?

FermatsTheorem · 23/07/2018 18:42

Well, it does make me think (and I say this reluctantly, as a footie fan, former - rather poor - player, and Liverpool fan) that this rather bears out the old cliche about professional footballers being thick as mince. (Disclaimer - I know there are many who are not).

But seriously, what sort of an idiot hands his twitter account over to a third party without any supervision of the content?

bd67th · 23/07/2018 18:48

I would have thought giving complete strangers control ofvyour public profile was the most fuckwit kind of thing to do

Indeed. Has he not heard of "retweet" and "quote tweet"? These would allow him to recommend other accounts run the activists he endorses. I suspect that he may not understand how Twitter works.

SunsetBeetch · 23/07/2018 18:52

Harrop has got a real bee in his bonnet about a woman called Karen on twitter at the moment. Why her in particular I don't know, because she calls him out on hos hypocrisy perhaps but so do others.

I've seen him calling her toxic on other replies on twitter too. He's horrendous.

The whole "if you don't want people to defend themselves, don't put them in a headlock": 1) that's not what happened, 2) it's pure "look what you made Tara do" victim-blaming. I call this as malevolent male entitlement.

FermatsTheorem · 23/07/2018 18:58

Harrop is an absolute raving misogynist. Really really odious little excuse for a man.

pachyderm · 23/07/2018 19:03

He's a stupid knob. He was really horrible and patronising to Rachel Moran (a sex trade survivor and women's rights activist) and set the whole "sex work is work" lot at her, to much nauseating fawning from people who thought he was such a lovely bloke.

Amazing how invested sleazy men are in defending prostitution. They make out it's "the girls" they're defending but it's their dicks they're thinking of.

SunsetBeetch · 23/07/2018 19:09

Some earlier nastiness directed at Karen attached.

Funny that in the Neville Southall thread, tonnes of evidence of aggression agaunst feminists was posted, but he only popped up when a ytans woman posted one (admittedly horrible) comment she'd received. Most odd, eh?

I seem to remember someone mentioning before that he was engaging in targetted vindictiveness at one woman, so targetted it seemed to the lay-person at any rate to cross the line into harrassment. Is this the same woman?

UglyCathKidstonBag · 23/07/2018 19:31

“As men lost no rights when women got theirs, women lose no rights when trans people get theirs.“
AYE, RIGHT

FermatsTheorem · 23/07/2018 19:39

"Aye right" Grin (that's a slightly rictus grin, btw).

Apart from the right not to be incarcerated with a man who gets off on fondling his penis next to you, or running against a teenage boy with a full testosterone load and male physique in a race where college scholarships hinge on the outcome. Oh, and the right of free association (being able to choose to meet with people of your biological sex and not the other sex if you so choose).

UglyCathKidstonBag · 23/07/2018 19:40

Poor men losing their right to rape us in marriage etc. what misery!

If Skeptcat wants to take legal action I’m happy to pay into a fund.

SunsetBeetch · 23/07/2018 20:00

@FermatsTheorem not sure. It could also be the woman from the Green Party he hounded. He also seems a leetle obsessed with Posie Parker. There are probably more.

I'm so glad I'm not on Twitter. My rage levels would permanently be through the roof, and they're bad enough as it is now

BeUpStanding · 23/07/2018 20:40

I'd chuck a few quid in to support Maria.

Someone handing their public profile over to random activists is one of the stupidest things I've ever heard.

FermatsTheorem · 23/07/2018 21:05

Thanks R0wan - that first thread was the one I was remembering. I find him quite scary actually.

R0wantrees · 23/07/2018 21:11

There have been quite a few other examples which won't be on either thread.
It seems extraordinary that he continues in this vein although as he seems not to have been censured, why would he stop?

NoDykeDoesDick · 23/07/2018 21:20

Harrop's projection is really quite something.

R0wantrees · 23/07/2018 21:21

This was one of the earlier 'give-overs' by Southall, to SWARM, supported by Sisters Uncut

Roseberg posted on thread below:
"As if on cue, here is Sisters Uncut tonight tweeting solidarity to SWARM ('sexworkershive'). Google SWARM and ECP and see how they organise demos together and release statements together. Connecting dot to dot to dot.

I bet they don't answer that question."
