This is just a suggestion that perhaps we should be careful about retweeting and linking articles that are from the socially conservative viewpoint. writing by people Paul Embrey or Brendan O'Neil and many articles in the Daily Mail for example will often include lots that I agree with but there will be a couple of remarks that suggest that it is the non-conformity that bothers them rather than the need to provide sex based exemptions. It is a very thin line between a justification of safe spaces for women because of the interaction between physical differences and historic oppression and one that thinks women are just delicate flowers that shouldn't say boo to a goose. I think some article on the right get the balance wrong so we should watch out

On a similar note I think the concentration on bathrooms is dangerous it smacks too much of trumps bathroom ban, we should talk more about women only short lists, refuges, sports and pay monitioring

In many ways I think we need to be united. Perhaps apart from those who are really genuinely just awful and bigoted. I think if someone makes a good point, they make a good point. Whoever they are.

Just had this thought when reading another thread about Rod Liddle. He's a very questionable character but that doesn't mean that what he's saying about certain things are not absolutely correct.

LOL at women supporting women's rights as rightwing...genuinely chuckling away at that one. What a complete dickish thing to say.

Here's the thing that men never get.

I don't always 'get' other women. Some drive me batty, some are annoying, some too girlie and some far too fucking scarey...in all i genuinely probably only ever had 20 good female friends my whole life...most of my friends were always men. But...i will always protect and stand up for women against men whenever needed...whether i know or like them at all. Because what connects us will always be strong and that is that all women - [even Nigella fucking Lawson] are at risk of male violence.

And nobody trying to pretend that resisting men's boundary stomping is right wing will ever stop women from saying 'FUCK THIS SHIT'.

Funny that is the biggest insult that Garam can come up with. Right wing - fuck off.

The next thing they'll be saying is that we all voted Leave and support Trump.

Purity politics on the Left is why we are in the ridiculous position of 2D+69=L being a real question

And you, OP, have immediately listed being a Brexiteer as right-wing. Not my fight, I don't live in the UK, but I find they give you a long list a disparate beliefs and tell you that if you believe in social justice then you also have to believe all kinds of other unconnected things.

Nowadays I prefer to do things on a case-by-case basis.

It's already been said but I stand with women on this and right wing christian women are as entitled to male free spaces as anyone else.

The TRA lobby will try and smear us whatever we do - no point worrying about it as far as I'm concerned.

Regarding toilets - we've all got to this point for different reasons. For me, it's crime statistics (if we can no longer point out male violence then we are well and truly stuffed) but I accept that statistics don't get the pulses racing. The thing about toilets is that they affect everyone. Prisons, refuges, sport don't.

As for Brexit - am I correct in remembering that Jeremy Corbyn refused to share a platform with David Cameron and Tony Blair? That ended well.

I also find it fascinating that these same transactivists who try and paint the GC position as being in bed with the right were amazingly OK with cozying up to Maria Miller et all. Suddenly for all these revolutionary activists, the Conservative Party didn't seem at all bad. I wonder why?*

YY.

Exactly.

I've always been open about being Catholic here. I am entirely gender critical. I am anti-pornography and anti-prostitution, not because I hate women, but precisely because my religious beliefs are very firmly based in the dignity of the human person - women included.

I am not a feminist, but I am more than happy to dig in with my feminist sisters and shore up protections that look after the interests of all women, be they left wing, right wing, apolitical and more interested in Corrie than any kind of controversial arguments.

The only qualification necessary to be concerned about the erosion of women's rights is to be concerned about women's rights.

As a Catholic, I have a seriously thick skin about people attempting to shame me for being associated with horrible people.

What wrong is wrong, even if everyone believes it. What's right is right, even if no one believes it.

LangCleg · 24/07/2018 09:49

Well said, Floral.

Yes, exactly. This is an issue which is central to women's rights.
