What really happened at the Stonewall Inn?

Was having a debate with woke teenage lesbian dd about Get the L Out and Pride. She started talking about the trans woman who kicked off the Stonewall Riots. I don't know much about this but I'm dimly aware that this version of events is disputed by radical feminists. Can anyone enlighten me?

And while we're at it - I am FB friends with one of the head honchos of Pride London. He's a very privileged posh white man with lots of similar friends. He was being very self-righteous about Get the L Out and all his mates were chiming in. It was such a vivid demonstration of the male elites telling lesbians how they should behave. Tempted to unfriend him.

This article includes a bit of info on some of the key players in the Stonewall riots - gender-non-conforming lesbians and gay men who have been retrospectively transed to write us out of our own history:

Bump because this is important. Trans people owe gay and lesbian campaigners such a lot, but now claim it's the other way round! Storme was a lesbian, Marsha was gay. Neither was trans. Marsha explicitly said he was a man, shortly before he died. Gay and lesbian campaigning was hard, unpopular work. Compare that to the bullying nature and swift success of the trans campaign. Then TRA try to claim they started Stonewall? Absolute bum.

Agreed Pratchett and I shall now be better informed when we return to the fray (as we will).
