Hi, after watching Hannah from Man Friday speaking at the Cornwall event ;

I had to go into town centre and tried out the walking straight and not getting out of the way for men. I really was surprised that so many of them after dodging out of the way at the last minute give me such affronted looks. After a while I really had to try and stop myself grinning as it was ruining the effect (as in I probably just looked a bit unhinged).

A variation on 'manspreading'. They really don't like it when you do it back to them.

It’s quite something isn’t it. Holding your nerve to walk in a straight line shouldn’t be a thing. I do it quite frequently these days, and have only been walked into a few times (normally quite hard when they do). The outrage that you’ve committed to not moving to the point of them walking into you (I stop a pace before they get to me) is pretty extreme.

Keep taking up space. We deserve it.

I get it all the time anyway because ease of changing direction is affected by my (invisible) disability.

I womanspread all the time, proper sit with my legs wide apart and my elbows out.
I was at a music festival this weekend and there was a bloke behind me in a massive queue. I stood there for about 20 minutes listening to him patronise, talk over and mansplain to this young woman he was with, and in the end, to my girlfriend‘s horror, I turned round and told him to shut up. It was great, I felt fucking badass, and it shocked him into silence for about five minutes.
I’m learning to shuck off this female socialisation bollocks. Some people really don’t like it, but they can kiss my arse.

It's rude and inconsiderate when men do it, so I certainly won't be starting to do it.
