It seems to be all about 'facts' on here lately and it's a fact that two women out of several million is a tiny proportion. It's a horrible crime but a relatively rare one given the number of couples out there and normal sane people understand this.

I dont demand 'no debate' either. I'm all up for discussion but it seems some would rather ban opposing views.

I'm not a TRA, I just think many on here get overly worked up over issues which will likely affect only a tiny minority in the real world (but are easy to get overinvested in if you live online).

Nope. The vast majority on here are all for getting this right out into the open and talking about it.

The #nodebate and secrecy is from the TRA side. We want this dragged out into the light, to be critiqued and examined and discussed widely. As widely as possible.

We often ask that particularly goady posts or threads be let stand rather than be deleted, so people can make their own minds up.

If they're having to defend their position in such a prominent --and lets face it, embarrassing/cringey manner - then it means people are finally starting to ask questions and they do NOT like it.

Almost twice as many men kill themselves weekly as women are murdered annually. I know the latter isn't really a feminist issue but it's an interesting numerical comparison.

Also, when I last mentioned the above figure, the immediate response was "male violence innit". However, that's the end result not the cause of suicide. Feminists are the principle group opposing International Mens Day (which highlights male suicide/mental health issues) so it's a bit disingenuous to try and other it as a topic.

And before you call me an MRA I am equally supportive of women's rights as men's (just not prone to hysteria - there I said it, happy now. ).

God, these silly bloody women getting all worked up about a measly two women a week being murdered. It's not even as if these are interesting murders that make the headlines. They're just dreary 'domestic violence gone wrong', probably something to do with drugs or alcohol, so why would anyone care?

I don't want you banned flutterby. It would be lovely if you could be convinced to be a decent person who is appalled at the murder stats quoted, and be able to point to your previous posts to show an evolution of thinking.

But I can see why some would want those disgustingly dismissive opinions about widespread abuse to be removed, because generally people frown on that sort of thing.

Sometimes against themselves, sometimes against their partners.

That men’s suicide is more important than women’s murder?
That the absolute number of deaths is to be the single marker of how worthy a death is?
That suicide is worse than murder? Or vice versa?

I'm just looking at other statistics as a basis for comparison. To give an analogy, there are many ghastly rare illnesses out there, but they are not all epidemics.

Illness isn’t caused by male violence.

Sometimes it does win. Many times it spurs men on to commit acts so violent they end a woman's life. She has, at that point, lost.

You know what helps hate win? Apathy. A shrug of the shoulders while a man beats the shit out of the woman in the flat above you, but you know, she probably provoked him, and he's a druggie and she could just leave, couldn't she?
