Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

What to expect on Twitter

I've recently joined Twitter to particpate in the GC debate.
As previously stated, I'm late to the misogony party, so trying to catch up.

I'm heartened by the witty, intelligent and creative women (and men) defending women's rights.

Likewise, I'm disgusted by the misogony and idiocy of twisting science into feelings. The recent childlike 'Genderbread' Man diagram sums it up really.

The support for feminist bashing from some uneducated media, political parties and slebs is even more alarming. As are the 'hope that helps' parrots.

Any top tips in surviving/spats/ being banned for stating biology as fact?

Don't take it to heart, dont get drawn in by trolls, and take a break if you need to.

Are you on Reddit? If you've been on any of the male MRA dominated reddits for any length of time you'll begin to recognise the MO and posting style everywhere else they pop up online.

Thanks - imagine it's easy to get drawn in to spats. I am seeing some of the language now and hypocrisy at what's acceptabe (call women derogatory names and threaten to punch them) and what's not (stating biological facts, peacefully)

I'm on Reddit (but previously to er look for The Handmaid's Tale spoilers) so will look on there too.

Hope to see you on Twitter - hoping I've already liked and RT some of your posts Smile

PM me your Twitter handle and I'll retweet you.

I quite enjoy Twitter. Its fun. I don't take it too seriously. Just don't be abusive and you'll be just fine. There are some great gc allies on there to follow.

I get into convos with some TRAs and have had some nice tempered convos.
I have also been blocked by the more sensitive TRAs especially when RTing their shite.

My mantra is don't get rattled and try to leave the convo looking better than them.
If all they do is swear and insult then they're making themselves look like arses.

Have fun!

Thanks! I am so glad we have MN though to discuss these themes in greater detail, despite the censorship.

I've changed my MN username recently as I initially joined for parenting advice 13 years ago but now I head for this board and the voices of sanity.

@busyboysmum I'll pm you thanks
