Has anyone else been watching this? A series of 3 programmes following people (mostly women) involved in sex work in the UK. The first programme looked at porn with both amateur and professionals as well as people who do webcams. I missed the second episode which was about people doing sex work in their own homes.
It’s the final episode about women working on the streets that has made me want to write this. Watching these, damaged, vulnerable women who are abused by every man who uses and discards them; addicted to drugs and abandoned by our misogynistic, patriarchal society. It’s heartbreaking. These women are not empowered, they’re enslaved. And if that makes me a SWERF then so be it.

Me too.

"Swerf" is such a ridiculous term.

LangCleg · 06/07/2018 22:30

I am happy to call myself swerftastic.

Will watch.

And me.

The few ‘empowered’ individuals at the top of the tree don’t make it OK overall. Not for women, not for society.

Haven’t seen the programme but I will search it out now, thanks!

Me too. The word empowering has become a meaningless shell of a word. It’s the most risky and vulnerable activity a woman can take part in

I'm a PPERF (pimp and punter exclusionary feminist) and proud of it. Empowering my arse.
