👍

Bamc1977 · 02/07/2018 15:47

Never really been trans activist myself but I was sympathetic towards the movement until I saw how some people in the movement treated and bullied people who were sceptical and asked perfectly legitimate questions. Asking the difficult questions and risking being offensive is how we discover truth

Until I paid attention.

TinyRick · 02/07/2018 16:28

Until I started reading Trans forums/blogs in order to 'educate myself'.

ChickenMe · 02/07/2018 16:46

I was trans neutral.
I was following a childbirth/BFing page on Insta.
The owner posted a meme reminding us not to forget TW are women too and not to exclude them from BF and childbirth
Of course I dared to say WTF and suffered a pile on

MistressDeeCee · 02/07/2018 18:24

Brilliant link, so many comments resonate.

It's heartening to know more and more are seeing Self-ID for the misogynistic, entitled male privilege that it actually is.

Interesting that there are lesbians and transsexuals on the Twitter thread also saying they were Trans allies until they realised agenda was to silence and control them too

I won't care if my comment is deleted - they cant censor everybody and the more mainstream this goes the more backlash there will inevitably be. People aren't stupid.

No convenient switching camp by censors in time to come, I hope. We must all have the courage of our own convictions

Juells · 02/07/2018 19:01

Are we reading the same twitter thread? Seems to be mostly trans people posting on it. Is that a way of drowning it?

TellsEveryoneRealFacts · 02/07/2018 19:04

Yes like everything - hijacked. Sigh.

MistressDeeCee · 02/07/2018 19:04

Yes, they're drowning it. Women need to get far better at doing the same. I can't even see some of the comments I saw earlier

MistressDeeCee · 02/07/2018 19:05

They can do that on Twitter. Let them flood the real world and see what happens

placemats · 02/07/2018 19:46

I've been around the internet for some time and I can tell you Daisy Deadhead was a huge trans ally about 5 years ago. I also see her on gender trender now. I wonder what made her change her mind? If I recall she had very good friends who were trans.

SwearyG · 02/07/2018 19:49

They take all the hashtags. It's actually rather telling, the flailing of a movement out of control.

placemats · 02/07/2018 20:00

I've just read through Daisy's timeline. She is now a 60 year old grandmother, well she was a grandmother five years ago also, and she was threatened with being 'cut up' online and was pestered persistently.

She was a HUGE trans ally. I can't get my head around it.

stillathing · 02/07/2018 20:08

Ha yes the thread was great when I checked it out earlier! But appropriation seems to be the name of the game so not surprised at all.

I was a trans ally until Lily Madigan happened; I stopped watching reality TV and started paying attention; and I realised that the vulnerable people I work with, already shat upon by austerity, were going to have their needs completely ignored because they don't have political clout.

Agerbilatemycardigan · 02/07/2018 20:35

I woke up in a cold sweat when reality hit.

pombear · 02/07/2018 20:54

I was an ally, and actively put measures in at work to be an ally, and then:

Madigan
Magdalen
Mumsnet discourse
Madness of Hyde Park corner fracas
ManFriday
Maria Miller's odd bedfellows
Mens RIghts Activists hopping on the trans agenda
MNHQ tangling itself in knots to appease what seems to be bullying
"Menstruators" language appearing
Maria McLachlan's experience
Masked cowards in Bristol blocking women's freedom to gather
Monroe Bergdorf
Mitchfest - learning about the attack and

Today's programme is brought to you by the letter 'M'.

(Started with a couple of 'm's and continued the theme!)

I'm pretty sure I could populate the whole alphabet with examples of why I've expanded my knowledge and woken up to the risk to females of this agenda.

My natural 'go-to' position is with oppressed and minority groups, but every small cut by trans rights activists inflicted on women's rights proves to me this is not that type of group, and takes me further away from wanting to defend it.

ResistanceIsNecessary · 02/07/2018 21:11

I was a trans-ally until Lily Madigan.

My peak-trans moment was seeing lesbians hounded on social media for being "genital fetishists" for not wanting to have sex with "lady penises". And seeing women being left in the dust by male born persons competing in women's sports, with no acknowledgement that their biological muscle mass, body frame, bone density and VO2 max is not removed even when hormones have been prescribed.

My moment of realising that the movement had been co-opted by people determined to achieve their ideological goals regardless of harm, was finding out about the effects of GnRH class drugs (so called 'blockers') on children's bone density, IQ points, fertility and genital development and the contraindications with mental health conditions.

This was closely followed by being completely appalled at the reality of what neo-vaginal surgery actually involves. Dilation schedules with tissue expanders, and if genital maturity has not been reached (due to use of blockers) then there can be insufficient penile tissue to invert.
The medical answer to this is to use part of the thigh, or of part of the intestine. We are literally seeing healthy children's legs and stomachs being mutilated in the name of providing them with a sexual orifice - with the associated problems of infection and scar tissue causing stenosis (narrowing).

Nobody knows the long-term outcomes for a child being "blocked" from entering puberty, from being on lifelong hormone treatments or from the extensive and complex surgery being conducted on their sex organs. An entire generation of children is being failed and used as medical experiments in the name of "equality".

pombear · 02/07/2018 21:15

^^ Resistance and this. Great post. And so much more.

Ereshkigal · 02/07/2018 21:15

They take all the hashtags. It's actually rather telling, the flailing of a movement out of control.

Definitely. It's a bit desperate.

Abouttoblow · 02/07/2018 21:21

Until I saw the utter misogyny outside the Jam Jar.

LadyJaneGreyspen · 02/07/2018 22:07

Anne Ruzylo and Lily Madigan . I would say i was a live and let live what is all the fuss about before that.

i was truly appalled at what happened to Anne and then Lilly getting a position.
I then checked both Anne and lily on twitter and the difference between the two was like night and day. Lilly seems to have grown up a bit since then.

The whole science behind puberty blockers and children shocks me.

LadyJaneGreyspen · 02/07/2018 22:08

Oh and the male aggression on twitter

AngryAttackKittens · 02/07/2018 22:13

Until trans allies told me to listen to transwomen. I did. What I heard alarmed me enough to go do some research, and now here we are.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 02/07/2018 22:23

They no platformed GG.
