Yes I know there was a palaver in Truro but this will Be a brilliant event with some fantastic speakers.
The Eventbrite is only showing Helen saxby at the moment but there will also be Ruth serwotka from WPUK, kathleen Stock, lecturer in philosophy and Gill Smith, detransitioned woman.

It will be a brilliant event with top class speakers. Hoping to see you all there!

Having different organisations set up meetings on this issue is a good thing, not a bad one. There's room for all kinds of approaches.

(Also Fox is now non-binary?! Welp, so much for "I was always a boy".)

therealposieparker · 04/07/2018 10:11

HLD. I think it's something quite sexist about asking women to play nice when they're fully aware of some incredible devious and bullying behaviour. So please don't.

HarryLovesDraco · 04/07/2018 10:42

Posie I wouldn't dream of asking you to do anything, I know how you would respond. You do what you want - I'm just pointing out the impact of trashing an event set up to raise awareness and facilitate debate. If you still choose to do that that is up to you.

Two accounts of the meeting on the Brighton and Hove Independent, a paper owned by Johnson press which also owns the "i". One from Helen Saxby and the other Rachelle Foster

www.brightonandhoveindependent.co.uk/news/opinion/two-views-women-s-place-meeting-in-brighton-1-8582049

Can't see any provision for below the line comment, but letters to the editor might be possible.

TensionWheelsCoolHeels · 28/07/2018 15:17

Worth checking out the tweets on this under Rachelle Foster's tweet about it. Joani Walsh is challenging her comments, and showing her up as someone spreading misinformation. Bit DARVO eh?

Procrastinator1 · 28/07/2018 15:42

Rosie Hays' comments interesting. She seems familiar

"I was also at the WPUK meeting and there wasn’t any reasoned or intellectual debate on the GRA consultation - it was a thinly disguised transphobes rally. So pleased you articulated my thoughts so well."

NotTerfNorCis · 28/07/2018 15:47

Rosie Hayes was a FWR poster who hasn't been around much since the Brighton event.

Wanderabout · 28/07/2018 15:47

The first article doesn't make any of the impact on women and girls clear. It's a shame because the second one is inaccurate but much more understandable

Procrastinator1 · 28/07/2018 16:12

Sorry are interesting.

I agree Wanderabout. Would be nice to have a concise sentence about the impact of self ID on women and girls available.

^I hope you will take my comment seriously and protect all your trans students and staff.
^
Protect them from what exactly some people, most probably women, meeting and talking as they are perfectly free to do?
