#ManFriday group closing

It gives me great sadness to write this post but we have been attacked this week, on our Facebook organising group by someone who claims to be a feminist and an ally to our cause. They chose to leak some screenshots to a Twitter troll (outing our members) and make a ridiculous allegation against us and Dr Nic in a thread on here and has slipped through our clean-up of our online group.

They are now threatening police action against high profile members of our group unless we prostrate ourselves to her bullying. @Sweary has a great response to that: the ever eloquent G F* Y! (starred to prevent deletion! ahem).

As we don't know who they are and don't know how to stop them the only option we have is to burn the group. This loses us so many allies, who have supported our actions wholeheartedly since that first day meeting wiht my local swimming pool and it breaks my heart. As we met on MN FWR I hope that most of you are still here and see this. We really didn't want to lose you - and you were as important as those of us out there getting on with the activism.

That this has happened in the run up to the consultation being launched, a time when we really should have our attentions and activities focussed elsewhere is ridiculous. This person has chosen to pursue a personal vendetta at a time when we should be pulling together and building on the success #ManFriday has had so far.

#ManFriday will keep fighting for the rights, safety, privacy and dignity of women and girls. We aren't going away but for the security of our members, we have to use alternative platforms to the Facebook group for organising our activism. Our website, Twitter feed etc. will still be up and running (come & get a t-shirt )

Please keep up with the #randomactsofmanliness and keep taking up space on Fridays. Or any day come to that.

Ah yes, the magnets. Premium quality badges and magnets. Proper designs too, not drawn in Paint by me ahem the logo ahem. A proper designer did them, my lack of artistic and creative genius has had no hand in it and they’re ace.

The (free) badge machine always draws a crowd at our local summer fair. Some stuff is just instrinsically fun. I include piping icing in this category.

Piping icing is so much fun. Piping sealant is also a lot of fun. Just don't lick your fingers as you might when piping icing. It is not fun.

Piping icing would be fun if it came out evenly rather than looking like Morse code.

Do you know what else is fun? Tweezing your knees. It’s like the shark-tooth removal game. Most are pleasingly itch-scratching to remove but every so often you get one that stings!

Ooh shopping bags. I'm in for those it will be used once then I will forget to ever take it out of the house again. Pretty please leaflets - would love some to keep in the shopping bag to hand out when people ask what #ManFriday is. Just a few important points and some find-out-more signposting.

Man a bit of both. I don’t know what the police would do, maybe laugh? I don’t get it either. Why destroy someone on your own side? I have theories, but they’re only speculation and frankly unhelpful. All we can do is deal with the situation. And keep on keeping on.

Needless to say if the police do visit we can show plenty that disproves the other party’s version of events. I spent a lot of time being quite concerned about them and feel a total mug for arguing that they weren’t malicious, because it’s clear now that their motives aren’t kind.

I have been in RL groups where disruptive people have almost destroyed individuals nd the group itself. We cannot be shut down, we have to keep speaking the truth. Sorry that at the moment is is you men Friday's who are taking the crap, could be anyone who puts their head up, solidarity to all of you.

We have not been bullied into silence.

I had so hoped by keeping the group so small and by checking out each member that the Facebook page would be safe.... I am so sad it was not.

ANd I do believe that each time something like this happens it makes glorious feisty GC women even feistier and more determined -and ready to find new ways round things and DO MORE.

I love wearing my Man Friday T shirt... and can't wait to wear it to my Friday zumba class (sadly health not well enough to go at the mo!)... adore handing out the badges to so many I've peak-transed and yes, think "performing random acts of manliness" is one of the best slogans ever.

You guys are awesome. It’s awful that one person seems to want to destroy the movement she purports to support.
