From [[https://communities.lendlease.com/gilead/
this website]]:

Welcome to Gilead – Macarthur’s new lifestyle gateway

A new master planned community from Australia’s premier award winning developer.

Set beside the Nepean River, Gilead will be a community surrounded by natural bushland and only 10 minutes from the urban hubs of Campbelltown and Camden.

Our residents will enjoy the beauty and convenience of beaches, adventures, hikes, walks and foodie hubs, at their doorstep.

Gilead is coming in early 2018.

WTF? Have these people never heard of Google? Or books/TV?

What's a "lifestyle gateway" anyway?

Praise fucking be.

Possibly the comedy lacks intersectionality. What does it centre?!

Offred · 26/06/2018 22:23

‘Lifestyle gateway’, the photos and ‘view masterplan’ from the website had my sides splitting...

They must know and be doing it deliberately... I want it to be in earnest though...

gingergenius · 26/06/2018 23:03

Perhaps we could all try reading stuff that is better suited for women than Attwood!

I've got some nice books about knitting? And kittens? Any good?

Offred · 26/06/2018 23:15

Maybe some source material; the bible...

I’ll leave it up to you, dear reader, to decide whether I mean Attwood’s source...

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 26/06/2018 23:16

Onward to the spirits! Ha ha!

Popchyk · 26/06/2018 23:38

This is the kind of bonkers thread that FWR is so brilliant for.

Humour, intelligence, flat out ignorance, crossed wires and a my goodness you are so lowbrow, didn't you watch the royal wedding masterclass of spectacularly missing the point.

Put my name down for a corner plot at Gilead. Detached.

Whatthefoxgoingon · 26/06/2018 23:44

FFS we all realise gilead isn’t just about the handmaids tale (which is fucking ace book and tv series btw) but we can still find it funny in the current circumstances Hmm

NewbieSpartacus · 26/06/2018 23:45

Why are you in feminism was indeed one of the best lines recently, up there with think we're gonna need a bigger hill and my favourite, alright bum licker

Whatthefoxgoingon · 26/06/2018 23:45

I’ll take a modest mid terrace popchyk

Blessed be the fruit.

gingergenius · 26/06/2018 23:48

May the lord open (the gates)

Popchyk · 26/06/2018 23:51

What is the "alright bum licker" reference, Newbie?

Missed that one.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 26/06/2018 23:52

Thank you for the explanation pombear Grin
Personally my favourite bit is the juxtaposition between highbrow references & royal wedding watcher Grin

why are you in feminism is my nomination for Star of the week

rufus Wine🍻🍺🍹🥂🥃🍷🍸🍾

Offred · 26/06/2018 23:57

Oh goodness my favourite bit was most people find it quit uplifting

Anyhoo... I’m going to attempt to ‘culturally limit’ my ass to bed for a few hours now...

boatyardblues · 26/06/2018 23:59

Is this plan B in case Shady Pines is full?

ErrolTheDragon · 27/06/2018 00:13

TBH even apart from The Handmaids Tale, 'Gilead' is a bit of a crap choice for a naice community for anyone who can read wiki knows their Bible.
'Gilead is a city of those who work iniquity; it is stained with blood'

(I'm hoping Atwood knew exactly what she was doing when she chose that name)

LassWiADelicateAir · 27/06/2018 00:15

It's funny to some people, why would you want to spoil that? Plus what did (the very funny) Hannah Gadsby ever do to you?!

Nothing but as she was cited for some reason as being relwvant so presumably I'm allowed to express my opinion of her? She is a one trick pony. That constitutes "spoiling" ? Are you really so insecure in your own taste?

Oh and at no point have I said anything about it not being funny- just pointing out as others did Gilead isn't restricted to that book. The entire planet isn't obsessed by the misery fest of The Handmaid 's Tale.

As for this comment Perhaps we could all try reading stuff that is better suited for women than Attwood! where on earth did you get that from?

Although given she is such a poster girl I might have expected you to spell her surname correctly.
