Good documentary on BBC Four, worth chasing up on i-player: Unsung Heroines, the lost world of female composers, presented by Danielle de Niese.

Not into classical but Girl in a band - about girls in rock which has just followed it is great and so interesting if that's your music style definately worth finding too...

ohh thanks, will try to watch that.

That does look interesting (and I can recommend Rita Ray's series on African music too, though not just about women's music).

Actually, looking at BBC Four's current line up on iplayer makes me want to send DS off for an all-weekend sleepover, then just watch TV. An all female Julius Caesar, Emmeline Pankhurst, revolutionary female artists, Marie Curie, Jocelyn Bell Burnell, Victoria Wood... and that's just the tip of the iceberg. They're doing the 100th anniversary of women's suffrage properly!
