I wondered if an accountability thread/suggestion thread for small (or big but mine will be small!) actions GC feminists could take might be good?

I would like to be prompted by others Smile

I would like to see goady fuckers fuck off to the other side of fuck.

But here you are Snappity

Pretty goady to come onto a thread with this subject and instead post about the actions you've taken that were not intended to further GC feminism, no? I wonder what HQs stance is on deleting goady comments.

Snappity · 23/06/2018 11:50

"Except it does not affect sports as sports are excluded from both the GRA and EA. And it does not affect prison as the prison regulations will be updated at the same time as the primary regulation. And it won't affect health care as either the GRA does not apply (e.g. single sex wards) or exceptions in the EA can be used (health care roles for specific sexes) etc"

Agree re sports and prisons. I still find it very patronising that women get separate sporting events and as a feminist would prefer men and women to compete in the same events but that's different and not enough people agree with me for it to be worth spending time on.

As to healthcare, I find the objections to self-ID massively over-blown. There are people who would object to a trans woman being on a female ward but who then invite in their boyfriends, brothers and husbands in as visitors.

Pratchet · 23/06/2018 11:51

That would be the ignoring women thing.

This is a board for all feminists.

LangCleg · 23/06/2018 11:52

Can we ignore the goady posts and just focus on the thread topic?

Much better to read a lovely, productive list of things women have been doing than spoil the flow with responding to goaders.

I shall locate and email one extra public body that uses gender instead of sex when referring to protected characteristics for every derailing post on this thread. I call it karmic balance.

Pratchet · 23/06/2018 11:54

Yes but first I will note that Snapity is refusing to answer the question
Sorry Lang!

Snappity · 23/06/2018 11:55

"I would call tf, cs and tswn hate speech. Would you be happy to see those pro actively banned also?" *

I can't see anyone getting prosecuted for using those, so no, I wouldn't. But if Mumsnet want to exclude them, that is their decision.

AngryAttackKittens · 23/06/2018 11:57

True that, Lang. I peak transed my neighbor, which is more useful than it sounds in that she's in medical administration and has a teenage daughter.

UpstartCrow · 23/06/2018 12:00

Women and men do compete in the same events, where men do not have an advantage by reasons of their biology.
Hope that helps.

Amalfimamma · 23/06/2018 12:00

I went to hear my 13 year old student graduate middle school yesterday. They have to do an end of year discourse and she chose feminism and how important Uk feminists are to the current fight against the trans lobbies and how women's rights should not and cannot be eroded for men.

Proud moment.

Pratchet · 23/06/2018 12:02

So basically anything that transpeople find offensive is hate speech, but anything that women find offensive isn't? #weseeyou

AngryAttackKittens · 23/06/2018 12:03

I literally chortled at the sports thing. 0.5/10 for goading, very poor effort.

Pratchet · 23/06/2018 12:04

Amalfi that is fantastic!!Star

LangCleg · 23/06/2018 12:04

(Sorry, not trying to tell anyone what to do!)

I have three extra emails that I will be sending at some point today!

womanformallyknownaswoman · 23/06/2018 12:07

I trans-peaked two women - who couldn't believe what I was telling them - they kept saying "no!- why? - it couldn't be - why haven't we heard of this?-this is ridiculous! - what about the women and children? - have they never heard of abusive men?" and so on

Waddlelikeapenguin · 23/06/2018 12:25

Amalfimamma how have you not burst with pride?!?!

Delighted & inspired by the wide variety of actions GC feminists are taking thank you Star

I have emailed my MP and the Girlguiding Association.

I have also Peak Transed my mum and husband. Smile

Amalfimamma · 23/06/2018 13:22

I am so proud of her. She spoke so well and urged her female classmates and teachers to stand up for themselves and their rights.

She finished off by saying "I urge you all, young and old, to not waste your time with selfies on social media but to use social media to your advantage. Look up the gender critical women, follow them, learn from them, see first-hand the threats ad vile messages they receive many times a day. Read up on Miranda Yardley, Julie Bindel, Jean Hackett and all the rest of those fighting for you and your safety. Don't believe the hype, nor the lies. 100 years ago women were fighting for the right to vote. In 2018 we are fighting for the right to free speech and the right to assemble without bombthreats or male violence"

So yeah. I peaktrans a 13 year old feminist who is turn is helping peaktrans her peers. It was a great presentation, she did most of it herself .

Waddlelikeapenguin · 23/06/2018 17:31

Amalfimamma that's amazing! What a fabulous conclusion & I particularly love that she has directed them to Jean Hackett Smile

Today; I've just written to my MP again Smile

Amalfi she's a star. That's incredible, for a girl her age. Pass on congratulations from the wider world!

PersonWithAVulva · 23/06/2018 18:50

BeUpStanding

My stepkids have the same response to it all. And there are currently 5 girls identifying as boys in DSDs class alone. All 'came out' within days of each other. Its clearly social contagion..and a response to sexist society (the first girl 'came out' just weeks after being sexually assaulted by a boy in the school), and its relatively harmless in itself. However it stops being harmless when sex segregated areas are involved, and puberty blockers and such. And especially Mermaids.

ChickenMe · 23/06/2018 20:57

Would defo like to put leaflets or stickers in female spaces linking the petition etc. Has anyone done so-what did you write?

I still find it very patronising that women get separate sporting events and as a feminist would prefer men and women to compete in the same events but that's different and not enough people agree with me for it to be worth spending time on.

Oh yeah great idea, that's gonna go really well. Not enough people agree..no I shouldn't imagine many do

Amalfimamma · 24/06/2018 08:20

Waddlelikeapenguin and Pratchet
She truly is a star. I've been teaching her since she was 3 and we have a very close relationship (as I do with her parents) she is quite the budding feminist.

Once in 'RE the teacher was speaking about the Islamic faith being oppressive for women and using examples like the Saudi Arabia ban on driving. She stuck up her hand and told the teacher not to make such horrible and racist generalisations especially seeing as the teacher was ultra Catholic and defended not only a church which hid and defended paedophiles for years, and that the Vatican state wasn't much better than Saudi Arabia seeing as the Vatican state is the only state in the world which bans women from voting in its elections.
