Whats with all the received pronunciation? Sorry had to get that off my chest.

They're filming anne lister drama at shibden hall at the moment. Please god she seduces all the ladies in a proper haligonian accent. Not holding up much hope.

I thought the Brontes all had Irish accents? On account of them being Irish. (Name was changed from something like O'Prunty)

PeakPants · 20/06/2018 23:17

Their dad was Irish but they were born in Yorkshire so I don’t think they would have had Irish accents. Probably more likely to have been Yorkshire but maybe RP.

AntiqueOlive · 20/06/2018 23:24

Contemporary reports say when the Brontes went to school they had Irish accents.

Beamur · 20/06/2018 23:30

I stand corrected on their being born in Yorkshire, but I think I read somewhere that they had soft Irish accents and not yorkie ones.

PeakPants · 20/06/2018 23:31

Sorry, my mistake

AntiqueOlive · 20/06/2018 23:36

I'm Bronte mad. Anne's my favourite. :-)

You've probably all seen it before.....

Norther · 20/06/2018 23:56

Absolutely NOT RP. Like other immigrant families, if they had irish accents they would have lost them within weeks of starting school.
