Gin for the mods

I think it is fair to say that neither side is happy with the new rules. But I think, and I hope most would agree, that it is a difficult decision to make and that an attempt is being made to get it right. The problem being that the two side's desired are diametrically opposed and there is nothing that will please both.

The mods are going to be handling a huge workload at the moment, both with vexatious reporting and clarification requests. They are also getting a lot of flack. I'm sure most is not meant personally and is coming from despair but when you hear people criticising what you are doing it does feel personal.

So this post is to say: we know it's shit being a mod right now, we know you are doing your best in a difficult situation and we thank you. Cheers.

I think you are mistaken since the transgender advocates are gloating over beating women into submission.

True that the mods may have their hands full at the mo with all the transgender advocates reporting women's comments. I think most of the women are afraid to report now.
Modding is a tough task on the best of forums. During an invasion by MRAs and other abusive males it is overwhelming.

I am Very unhappy, women have been silenced yet again. I'll drink the gin myself!

Transgender advocates are not gloating, Nobody has beaten you into submission, There has not been an invasion by abusive males,
Hopefully with the new rules, there will be more constructive debates.

Ultimately I don't think this will pay off but can see that mods are under pressure.
In the end if this becomes an echo chamber for people like Giddy99 I'll take my rapier-like wit elsewhere though.

I agree that the mods have a tricky job to do, and any mistake gets played out very publicly. Some evenings I think it would be easier to be the England football manager than a MN Mod

I think we all just hold on until they get bored and hopefully fuck off to harrass someone else.

We will be able to speak freely again. I think this is all just a hideous phase that Society is going through. I do remember a really irritating time in the 80s of extreme PCness in councils etc. We got over that ok. Common sense will prevail I have every confidence.

I know that there are disagreements on here but I for one will not be reporting any posts (unless they truly are extreme). To be fair I have very rarely reported anything in the past. There’s really nothing to be gained by reporting things like misgendering and getting people banned. The mods can’t read all the posts so if people avoid reporting then impact on the discussion should hopefully be reduced.

Might have to change my name to GenderCriticalActualWoman then. Is that allowed?

Yeah I see this as a phase as well because it seems so ridiculous, but some things that start out seeming ridiculous become normal.

Sorry, mods but I fully intent to make your life harder from now on, because I'm pissed off and want to play the TRAs at their own game, so I'm reporting any post that is disingenuous or I even slightly disagree with right now- because this is the only way I can really pass my displeasure on to the powers that be.
