I am a woman.

I was a girl.

I am an adult human female.

Something a man can never be.

I am a woman.

People refer to me has her and she.

Sometimes said with deep contempt and misogyny.

I am a woman.

Something a male will never be.

I have a vagina and uterus.

I menstruate and have given birth.

I am a mother.

Something a male will never be.

I have been insulted, assaulted, belittled, dismissed, held back, intimidated, stereotyped, terrorised, mocked, shamed, humiliated because I am a woman.

Something a male can never be.

I feel insulted, appropriated, offended, anxious, tense, depressed, hurt and under siege, when a male claims to be a woman or anyone says a male can be female.

It is not civil or respectful to treat me this way.

I am a woman.

I am Spartacus.

I am still Spartacus. I refuse to be gaslighted by TRAs and made to use words that I know are incorrect just to make a small group of men feel better about themselves.

An XY-male is a man, as per dictionary definitions:

Male = Of the sex that can make sperm.

Man = Adult human male.

He can be a feminine man, he can be a man who wears dresses and makeup, has taken hormones to grow breasts, and undergone surgery to approach the outward appearance of a female. But he is and will always remain male and hence a man, according to the definitions one can find in any dictionary.

Really disturbed by the example of time travel being a physical child with an adult age (of consent)

Who's impersonating? I am who I am. To clarify, I am a woman. All human kind didn't get together and vote to make your definition correct. Even if we did it wouldn't make it permanent.

We are humans, we live we grow, we adapt, we change and as we do the language changes with us. It was not so long ago that someone with different coloured skin was called simple 'slave'. But that changed, more and more of us realised they are human too, until today most agree the past actions were wrong. As a people we change and grow, definitions change over time as language does.

You say a male body could never be female one and yet a cube can become a sphere. The is only difference is how complicated the process.

I am sorry that truth brings you pain or anxiety but truth doesn't go away because it causes you anxiety.

Oh goodness

Fuck! Just caught up... I have to go to work but... bloody hell!

A cube can become a sphere as proof of human sex change! Aaargh!

As a human physiologist I need a brick wall for my head... I cannot deal with that!

I am Cubicus! Or is that Sphericus?

AngryAttackKittens · 18/06/2018 09:01

Rhombusicus?

CuriousaboutSamphire · 18/06/2018 09:02

Poe's Law! Oh thanks, AAK I thought, for one moment, that the whole night's work had been utterly serious Grin Grin

GhostTess · 18/06/2018 09:07

Hi CuriousSamphire

Your logical fallacy is.

Straw man. You misrepresented an argument to make it appear easier to attack.

It's not "our definition" it's the one most of humankind know to be true. People play along with yours because they don't want to be rude or push emotionally fragile and volatile people over the edge. Woman means adult human female.

Ereshkigal · 18/06/2018 09:14

Oh goodness

Textbook reversal. When you see it you can't stop seeing it!

GhostTess · 18/06/2018 09:22

Ereshikgal,

Female; of or denoting the sex that can bear offspring or produce eggs, distinguished biologically by the production of gametes (ova) which can be fertilized by male gametes.

I don't know why you people work so hard to disenfranchise women who are infertile and were born that way, or who have had to be sterilised for medical reasons.

Is the definition so important to you that you'd throw away your sisters? Sounds like the remnants of traditional gender roles from the patriachy that we have yet to remove.

Pratchet · 18/06/2018 09:24

Let's just nail this one right here, and please don't ever raise it in such an offensive way again.

Sex is defined by reproductive role, not reproductive ability.

Southfields · 18/06/2018 09:27

I too feel insulted, appropriated, offended, anxious, tense, depressed, hurt and under siege, when a male claims to be a woman or anyone says a male can be female.

It is not civil or respectful to treat me this way.

Southfields · 18/06/2018 09:28

Ghosttess

You are suggesting that if someone loses a leg through injury, they are no longer a member of a bipedal species!

LangCleg · 18/06/2018 09:30

Still Spartacus. And the more nonsense derailing there is, the more Spartacus I get.

AngryAttackKittens · 18/06/2018 09:32

Can't be bothered with the derailing. Is it recipe o-clock again?

GhostTess · 18/06/2018 09:32

Southfields,

Sorry but no, that's what the definition says and I'm arguing against the definition.

So your logical fallacy is Straw Man. You misrepresented my arguement to appear to make it easier to attack.

AncientLights · 18/06/2018 09:34

@GhostTess if you'd been on here for more than 5 minutes, you'd know that many of our regular posters have written movingly about their own fertility difficulties, gynae cancers etc. We have no time here for anyone who is dismissive of their pain, we do not do this ourselves.

You are making presumptions that are extremely offensive, which is not surprising considering you think a mammal changing sex is essentially the same as a geometric shape change.

Nothing changes the fact that women, adult females, belong to the reproductive class that produces large, immobile gametes while men, adult males, belong to the one that produces small, motile gametes. The fact that individuals do not/cannot do those things is not relevant. We still are members of those classes.

terryleather · 18/06/2018 09:36

It's tiresome how they smugly bring out all the same old gotchas that have been heard and dismissed a thousand times before...

BrewGinCake for all the posters with the energy to engage.

Lang Did you have Weetabix Banana Horror for breakfast? ( I think it's you who invented it....?)

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 18/06/2018 09:40

All human kind didn't get together and vote to make your definition correct.

Well they didn't vote no. But they did/do agree. I guess they didn't need to vote cos it's so very fucking obvious to anyone who is in touch with reality.

GhostTess · 18/06/2018 09:42

Hi @AncientLights

You have a few logical fallacy there first of all Straw man. That is not what I was claiming. Over discussions with Pratchett who defines female that way, unfortunately those women don't fit Pratchetts definition. Not mine, mine has been that the definition is inadequate all along. So your first logical fallacy is straw man

yourlogicalfallacyis.com/strawman

By the definition provided by Pratchett. Sorry but it's them disenfranchising women not I. Which is your second logical fallacy.

TerfsUp · 18/06/2018 09:42

Can't be bothered with the derailing. Is it recipe o-clock again?

The best way to deal with de-railers is not to engage.

I have a great carrot cake recipe, by the way.
