GRA consultation, does anyone know much about it

I'm concerned it's starting in the school holidays. TRA will be in their basements as usual, blamming in responses. Will everyone be able to contribute, who are the women's groups being asked? The LGBT consultation had about 100k responses with about 7k from trans people and 7.5k from 'non binary' people. That is an extraordinary ratio for a supposedly tiny population. Will women's voices even have a chance?

I share your concerns. I've heard it suggested that the only way to get the issue mainstream in time for the consultation is a full page advert in a national newspaper. Otherwise I think there is a very real risk that the consultation will be dominated by TRAs.

How such an ad is written, designed & paid for I don't know! I would chip into a crowdfunder of one of the campaigning groups like WPUK (can't recall the other ones off the top of my head unfortunately) wanted to go down that route.

Surely there is a certain length of time they need to have for a consultation? No idea how long but assume 3 months at least?

I think there would be a good chance of getting the Mail to run a campaign AGAINST it once it is announced - it would be extremely popular with their readers.... and Editorial is always stronger than ads (which can easily be missed by many)

I fear it will be a re run of the Scottish consultation. We need to see the equalities Impact Assessment and challenge this if its inadequate. It's all a bit like an iceberg, most is hidden under the surface in unintended consequences.

Knowing this governments record they'll sneak it into law when all eyes are on the close of Brexit negotiations. You can tell its being timed to perfection.
