Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

A major reason inequality continues

I'm just realizing how often men try to control women by saying they're attracted to this, and not attracted to that blah blah. In fact, I think it’s the main weapon men use against women.

They know that women who want a man in their life frequently try to do what men say makes women attractive. I read a book a long time ago called What Guys Want (back when I cared) written by 3 men who were going to tell it straight to women.

Of course it was nonstop degrading "information", and should have been called The Three Little Pigs, with the writers excusing male promiscuity but not women's, expectations that women should cook for their man at least sometimes because they’re females, and men needing blow jobs so much they might leave their girlfriends over not giving them out. And MUCH more BS.

I wish more young women would realize that lots of men hand out relationship advice mainly meant to give more entitlements to men and trample on women's boundaries, not necessarily because there’s something innate in men that makes these characteristics attractive in women.

A decent, mature man will want a woman with an independent mind who doesn't try desperately to please him or anyone if it means compromising her values or making herself too uncomfortable.

That’s all I had to say really. I’m just noticing lately how often men do this and it’s big influence on women’s behavior, especially younger ones.

Men positioning themselves as judges of individual women's value to men creeps me right the hell out.
I won't live to see it but it has always been my hope that Feminism would guide us to a point where women everywhere are sufficiently independent that they are no longer subjected to these unrelenting male dominance displays.

I think things are slowly progressing. As more women learn to spot red flags of control freaks, they'll stop choosing the wrong men to partner up with and those guys can be bred out of existence.

And you don’t see it the other way round. Relationship advice books/etc by women are targeted at other women, not at telling men to sort themselves out.

The utter misogynistic entitlement of the “Let me tell you what men REALLY want but are too emasculated to admit, ladies!” is laughable in itself. We are all expected to say “oh gosh okay sorry sorry” and scurry to provide, not “Oh right, you want a woman who’ll happily watch your porn collection with you and provide daily blowjobs when you get home from work? Well I want a hot weekend in Rio with Aidan Turner back in his Being Human days, MAKE IT HAPPEN.”
