Men who kill their wives or attempt to.

This man didn't kill his wife.

www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2018/may/24/army-sergeant-found-guilty-of-trying-to-kill-wife-by-tampering-with-parachute

But I bet she trusted him completely. I bet she never suspected a thing.

It's astonishes me the bare faced attempts at her murder. All because of sex and money.

Are these attempts at murder the tip of the iceberg?

Another link for those shy of the Guardian

Wouldn't tampering with the gas also be attempted murder of his kids?

Elendon · 24/05/2018 18:21

Yes.

His ex wife has declared she dodged a bullet.

I wondered that as well @TERFragetteCity. Maybe the case wasn't as clear cut for that and the charges that were made were the ones that were more likely to get a conviction.

This man is a cold hearted bastard. I bet he thought he'd got away with it when she jumped out for her parachute jump. He must have been shocked when she survived.

When I heard the verdict on the news earlier I cheered so loudly the bloke in the car next to me gave me a funny look. I hope they let the fucker rot.

QuarksandLeptons · 24/05/2018 21:54

From the Telegraph:

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/04/12/parachute-trial-army-sergeant-accused-trying-kill-wife-contact/

“Michael Bowes QC, prosecuting, said: "This is a man who cared absolutely nothing for her and treated her with absolute contempt."

He told the jury that the previous month, Cilliers had arranged to meet Carly Cilliers for sex before arranging to have unprotected sex with a prostitute for £100, asking her if he could film it.”

What a horror of a human. His poor wife and family

TheCraicDealer · 24/05/2018 22:08

Ive been following this for ages, since the original trial. He sounds like a complete and utter knob before you even take into consideration the whole, you know, trying to murder his wife. The means he tried to employ was like a plot out of Midsomer Murders or something. So callous and audacious it's baffling- how did he ever think he was going to get away with it?

Even more puzzling was the fact that the police had to warn Victoria Cilliers to stay away from him and the prosecution had her declared a hostile witness due to her change in stories. He may seem like a pathetic creature now, but it goes to show how these men can manipulate and control intelligent and accomplished women like his wife.

LaSqrrl · 24/05/2018 22:24

Cold-blooded killers, rather than "utter knobs".
Many of this type will employ a third party hitman for the job, and those that don't, arrange "accidents". And some do get away with it too (although sometimes the police do suspect, but don't have the evidence).

Glad they found this one guilty of attempted murder, before he succeeded in killing a woman. He needs to be kept away from ALL women. I suspect a case of ladyfeels for this one in the future though.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 25/05/2018 08:46

I also did a cheer in the car when I heard he'd been found guilty.

Sociopaths tend to like the excitement of risk-taking. Psychologists speculate why, but some suggest that without love and empathy, life must appear pretty pointless - hence all the game-playing, manipulation of others, risk-taking etc.

He treated her appallingly she was just desperate to keep her family together. It's nothing short of a miracle that she survived.

Popchyk · 25/05/2018 14:54

That poor woman. Life-changing injuries and two young children to try to bring up alone. Just awful for her.

Given the details that have come out now, it makes you wonder why the first jury could not agree on a verdict.

Elendon · 25/05/2018 16:06

Thanks for that link Sarah. It seems though his wife Victoria was desperate to keep the family together, a totally understandable choice given her predicament of being pregnant with a toddler. I'm glad she changed her will.

the last line in that link is particularly chilling.

Against him, Victoria Cilliers barely stood a chance.

She had two children with a man who tried to murder her. Twice. A man who was nothing like the man she thought he was. I'd think getting over that would be very hard, poor woman.

At least her DC are very young. They won't remember or miss him.

Elendon · 25/05/2018 19:54

He has six children Prawn and didn't seem by all accounts to connect with any of them. Imagine the uproar if this was a woman?

Psychopaths are generally low IQ:

www.google.co.uk/amp/s/www.newscientist.com/article/2118547-real-life-psychopaths-actually-have-below-average-intelligence/amp/

I think a lot of people fall for the superficial charm of some of the dark triad personality traits particularly narcissism.
