Link here

Jessica Walter tries to talk about Tambor's verbal abuse of her & is talked over by the other (male) cast members who minimise her experience - the audio recording demonstrates how affected she is/was by it. The print version shows how she still has to repeat how bad the experience was while Bateman in particular while saying "not to belittle" by doing exactly that tries to minimise what she's saying. Tambor was there too.

Jessica Walter is a bloody awesome woman who deserves so much better than this shit show of an interview.

She still sounds very hurt and angry, understandably. Woman's pain and experience gets minimised by men, yet again. It's a shame that she feels she 'has to get over' her experience.

I wonder whether Portia de Rossi's absence from the interview was by choice or scheduling conflict.

The 'redemption' of abusers in the entertainment industry is well underway & clearly Bateman & co are desperately trying to stay 'on message'. His 'it's like family' bollocks is quite similar to Dustin Hoffman's bullshit excuses that John Oliver challenged not so long ago.
And of course, this shit plays out elsewhere too, without the spotlight or scrutiny the NYT are giving this interview.

A film set is nothing whatsoever like a family which should be clear to everyone given how many actors have talked about the abuse they experience from strangers they meet on the set.
Unless, of course, they mean a violently and sexually abusive family in which case WTF?

womanformallyknownaswoman · 25/05/2018 00:33

Excusing his verbal abuse and intimidation won't make him change - poor woman she seems to be getting no backup for his workplace bullying and targeting of her - where the bully should be exited

I posted in the pub re Bateman's "apology"

It's almost as bad as the original interview

And why does anyone think these men should be forgiven?

MrsTerryPratchett · 25/05/2018 00:38

Yet another man who I thought was a good 'un falls. Jason, man, seriously? He's trying to explain the entertainment industry to a woman who was in it before he was born.

AdeliciousRex · 25/05/2018 21:48

Oh. Jason, you utter wanker. All that sucking up to the abusive prick in the room.

And I know it's not about this but I'm sad that that series has been tainted now.

AdeliciousRex · 25/05/2018 21:52

Oh don't worry though, they all grovelled contritely on Twitter the day after Angry

Assholes.

MrsTerryPratchett · 25/05/2018 22:45

Unfortunately for Jason, I now have a one-strike misogyny rule. Having any more seemed unfit for purpose. What with so many of them doing it over and over.

And Dodgeball Sad

Lottapianos · 26/05/2018 17:32

'I now have a one-strike misogyny rule. Having any more seemed unfit for purpose'

Extremely sensible approach.
