I saw that vacancy in a Girlguiding email today. I’m very tempted to apply, although I don’t have any professional safe guarding experience (does risk management count?)

There’s been loads of ads for lead volunteers recently - strategy, membership. All are announced with a tiny window to get applications in. It’s a nightmare as most leaders work, have their own families, plus brownies/guides etc to run. But this doesn’t close until 4 June. Hmmm.

I suppose if a GC gets the job they could get their own 'legal advice' to see the actual position on what counts as a girl in the eyes of the law. It sounded overstated in 'the discriminating' advice, though they won't want to come over as dismissive of transgender kids.

Joint application Agnes, you & Dr Nic could job share. That'll cover all bases I would think

'critical friend' sounds hopeful.

All are announced with a tiny window to get applications in - this sounds less hopeful, like maybe they've decided already who will get these jobs and are just going through the motions.

Dr Nic would be awesome. As would Agnes.

Yikes I cant umagine many people wanting the job of safegarding secret teenage mixed sex accommodation all the more opportunity for you though Agnes we could sign a reference letter for you

Agnes I reckon you have had learned all about safeguarding at breakneck speed and know more about it than the CEO by now!

You do need to be a volunteer with GG to apply which I think puts Nic out of the running. It's a pity, she'd be awesome.

I'm off tomorrow so I think I'll have a go at the application form...
