Is misogyny a hate crime and if not, why not?

Reading the thread where the OP was assaulted by her neighbour who hit her with his stick and said "no f... bitch tells me what to do".

It made me think that if you replace the word bitch with a term of racist of homophobic abuse etc, that would make it a hate crime. So why is sexist abuse any different?

racist OR homophobic abuse, that should say

It is in some parts of the country but not others. There was some talk of rolling it out nationwide as the trials have been successful at reducing street harassment.

Because too many men enjoy it and all men gain from it, and because women re conditioned from a young age to turn it inwards instead of recognising common cause with each other.

By the time most of us realise what is going on we have reached an age where we are written off as old and pointless except as mums, grans, cleaners, sandwich makers and bum wipers. (No shade, just how we are categorised)

That hits each of us somewhere between 25-35? Depending on how useful we are in shitting on other women and staying open for casual sex.

God, that's depressing, Joan.

Crow, rolling it out nationwide sounds like a good thing to me - does it depend on legislation or is it just the attitude of the police force?

Sorry.. just seems to be the way

What Joan said.
I would maybe say shielded until mid-30s?
Of course by 50, your Cloak of Invisibility kicks in (has its benefits though!). Coincidentally, around the age when most women have joined a lot of dots. So YW are cut off from the older generation of women ("don't be bitter old hags like X"). All deliberate strategies.
