Anyone else see this? Anyone else know more about it? I haven't seen the show. It's being framed as a free speech issue.
There's a comedy fundraiser in London on Mon.

I haven't heard if her before but that sounds like a man silencing a woman whose honesty could cause him problems.

Men have been making jokes on stage about wives/girlfriends/exes/mums for how long? But this guy is challenging a woman for talking about him..

Yes, it has a dog-whistle quality for me too, though as I said it's being presented as a free speech issue. Surely word has travelled further now it's going to court than it would have done otherwise - ? What a nightmare though, to potentially end up bankrupt for talking about your own life.

I think this has been covered before on another thread on MNet.

It's the Streisand effect:

It just makes you think his actions prove that he is still being abusive.

“Men have been making jokes on stage about wives/girlfriends/exes/mums for how long? ”

On the last thread someone posted that she also included his name and photograph in parts of the show and I think also a screenshot of some private correspondence to him. (I haven’t seen the show so this could be incorrect)

“sounds like a man silencing a woman whose honesty could cause him problems. ”

If she was being honest then she has a complete defence to any claim of defamation though.

arousingcheer · 18/05/2018 03:22

Thanks for that. I did think after I posted that I should have done a search first.

Ah the other one is in AIBU, no harm in discussing the same thing from a different perspective
