I live in Lewisham East, as a result of the resignation of Heidi Alexander there's going to be a by-election. It's a very safe Labour seat (21k) and Labour have just announced tonight an all BAME women shortlist. I personally like the idea of all-women shortlists and Lewisham is a borough with a very high BAME population, but I've already seen some white right-leaning blokes up in arms about this. I want to be able to put up robust arguments to defend against the white bloke rhetoric that this is sexist/racist (vs white blokes) - so I'm appealing for assistance from the Mumsnet hivemind..?! TIA
