Radar Radio scandal

Hi, I’ve tried to find a thread on this as I’m watching with great intrigue as to what happens next, if I have missed one please let me know.

For those who might not know Radar Radio is an online radio station which is owned by Ollie Ashley the son of the sports direct owner. Recently this month it was exposed by an ex-employee that she had been sexually assaulted and other employees had also, Pxssy Palace (a female collective) then stopped their residency due to my factors - will add links.

This then spurred an anonymous group to form a list of male DJ’s/current music artists that have been accused of rape, sexual assault, sexism to be published. I do have a screenshot of the list but it was quickly removed from twitter. Happy to DM to those but bit nervous about implications it could possibly cause me by posting online.

I know one of the women who wrote about her experience there has broken her contract, and is waiting to see if there will be ramifications due to this.

I am very interested in this as I was violently raped by someone high up in the same industry, 4 years ago and it lead me to have a breakdown and quit work all together, after my concerns were not listened to. I hope that this may open floodgates for many others, 2 of my close friends still work in this area of radio, both of whom have been sexually assaulted.

Hope I’ve done the linking correctly! I do have more if people would like them.

I don't know about this but I'm so sorry for what happened to you and your friends Thanks

Sorry this happened to you, and your friends.
Group action by women seems to be the only thing that works... eventually... sort of.

Thanks for the post OP. I had no idea about this. I am very sorry to hear what happened to you.
If you crowdfunded for legal costs to pursue this, I am sure a lot of women would support you (I would)

DJLippy · 16/05/2018 21:22

So sorry that this sort of thing is still occurring and so sorry that this happened to you Flowers

Thanks for the support everyone. I am okay now but have found this triggering.

It’s hideous that’s it’s still happening, and seems to be allowed to happen.

I find it scary that so many young women wish to go into radio, and the current grime scene fascination is leading a lot of vulnerable people into gruelling internships where they have very little respect or power.
