Women's Place meeting

I have booked a ticket for a women's place meeting coming up. I'm going on my own, can anyone let me know what to expect. I've seen some unnerving images of masked men at a recent one, is that common?

The two I’ve been to weren’t like that. One had a handful of women protesting outside, but it was snowing, and the second had protesters turn up after we’d started and they were shouting as we left but weren’t intimidating, it felt a bit surreal tbh.

Which meeting are you going to? At Oxford a bunch of us met in the pub beforehand which was helpful for the nervous ones among us as they didn’t have to face protesters alone. It seems meet ups beforehand are quite common.

If it’s the Todmorden one, I’m going too. Maybe we need some sort of mumsnetter way of identifying each other, like a biscuit brooch or something.

Christ Almighty 2018 and women have to be afraid when meeting to talk about legislation which will affect them. It's barmy.

I know, it does feel ludicrous! It's Truro I'm off to @SporadicSpartacus but thank you for suggestion.

@MotherTERF I’m going to that one. See you there!

I walked right through the crowd of them at the Oxford one. Honestly it's fine.

The venue called the police straight away at Oxford I think. They turned up really quickly and made sure the protesters were behaving themselves.

at the end of the day people are entitled to shout and make a nuisance of themselves, as long as that's all they do.

Equally, we're not doing anything illegal or immoral by attending a meeting to discuss a change in the law.
