I went with my husband and was sat in front of the woman from the refuge in the back row. We went to the Golden Lion first but couldn't see anyone.

I was disappointed that Nel was given special treatment.Why? I may have misunderstood, but did the speaker say that next time they're going to invite someone who disagrees with us? If so I wouldn't have much interest in that.

Little Nell was not at all keen on WPUK beforehand.

Oh, I would, sprouts! There’s so much blocking & pointblank refusal to talk from the TRAs I think it would be great if one of them (pref able to listen as well as talk) would come.

Applause was polite, not thunderous! Most of the speakers from the floor had pre-written notes so they were always intending to speak - they weren’t ‘given permission’

And you’d think there were no speakers at all opposing her stance!

LOL, no it didn’t. There was a bit of applause and a few uncomfortable giggles.

The only accurate thing nell said is that they spoke for much longer than agreed.

I talked for 10 minutes and not the 5 agreed.

How bloody typical is that? And Nell doesn't even know what an admission that is.

I wanted to take time from women who had spent time and money to attend this meeting and had as much right as I did to a fair share of the allotted time but I didn't give a shit about that, took that time from them, and regard this as a victory.

Such fucking sisterhood. Not.

And WPUK usually take a few days or more to put up the speeches, don't they?

The hilarious thing about this is that there are few things more masculine than the tendency for the mediocre to inflate their importance out of all proportion to reality. If Nell wanted to be convincing as a woman, I'm afraid they'll need to learn a little more modesty and self-deprecation.

Yes indeed! Modesty is not a quality many of these people possess in great quantities.

Nell doesn't even realise how much time Nell took up with waffle, thereby excluding others who wanted to talk, although it is itemised clearly in Lapdance's post. Such a lack of self-awareness. I was there too and totally missed the reception to Nell's speech that is outlined above. Rather more polite applause I thought.

Nell talks about divorce, and I have read this before. But would it be divorce or annulment? If you couldn't have marriage between two same-sex people, then surely if one became technically the 'other sex' for legal purposes, the marriage would be void and therefore annulled rather than having to apply for a divorce? And what ground would a spouse of such a person end the marriage on now - unreasonable behaviour?
