My Life In Sex from the Guardian

I like the fact that the writer realises it's narcissistic and all about their sexual pleasure. I mean I wouldn't want to be married to him, but at least he's honest and has a grasp on reality.

What is with the Guardian? They seem to be obsessed.

NotTerfNorCis · 11/05/2018 13:50

Surely this article is heretical to TRAs. A man who identifies as a woman is a woman!!!!!1

FermatsTheorem · 11/05/2018 13:54

That's one of the more thoughtful and sensible articles in this series, TBH. (And yes, the Guardian is becoming a bit of a parody of itself these days).

LittleLebowski · 11/05/2018 14:05

Just read this - the transumbrella getting opened big-style there and yes, an admittance of how this can be just narcissism.
Saw a comment advising the man to go to "Fetlife" - had to google - a social networking fetish site. I've obvs led such a sheltered existence.
Some great comments.

Maryz · 11/05/2018 14:07

That article is interesting, not least because it's anonymous. It seems from reading the trans widows threads that cross-dressing starts like this - but then in many cases progresses.

I wish there was a name on it, because I'd bet my right arm that in two years' time the writer of that article will have "come out" as trans, and will be insisting that he's been a woman (a lesbian, obviously) for his entire life.

[cynical]

Maryz · 11/05/2018 14:07

And I'll probably be deleted for that suggestion [even more cynical]

FermatsTheorem · 11/05/2018 14:09

One of our regular trans posters once said there's actually a joke about this in the trans community: "What's the difference between a transvestite and a transsexual?" "About 2 years."

(I first heard about Fetlife on mumsnet - I have seen it recommended on threads in the Relationships section about "how can I find a no-strings hook up?" Not that I'm interested in how one finds a no strings hook up Grin)

Love it when a man dresses as a woman, then is shocked at all the creepy objectification he gets from other men.

scotsheather · 11/05/2018 14:18

Like how you 'dress' has ever changed your sex there and then. What a load of crap.

BesmirchingMotherhood · 11/05/2018 17:20

He didn’t get the Stonewall memo, obviously.

LizzieSiddal · 11/05/2018 17:43

Gosh, when women say things like that, they are shouted at, called TERFS and suspended from political parties.

Very surprised The Guardian even printed it, but good for them, let’s hear more of this straight talking.

"Surely this article is heretical to TRAs"

I hope so. I'm hoping to make a killing on a fitness-type App that tracks all your daily Triggers. If your blood pressure spikes you win a picture of some shoes, or something.

AngryAttackKittens · 11/05/2018 21:34

Sadly, this means that my transvestism is always going to be a solitary experience, and like Narcissus, I fear the only relationship I will have, will be with myself.

I wouldn't want to have sex with this guy, but points for self-awareness.
