Being silenced AGAIN (trans thread)

DeleteOrDecay · 10/05/2018 12:47

On reddit. Screenshots included. I genuinely don't feel I was transphobic, merely stating the truth and briefly explaining why without being offensive or disrespectful. So I thought.

Was then told if I argued back again then I was 'gone' from that subreddit.

I know this is nothing new for GC feminists but it made me hit peak trans all over again. I'm so angry.

Honestly, I don't see a point in arguing with people like that. Far too far down the rabbit hole. And no it wasn't transphobic in any sense of the word that most of the world understands it to be.

Which subreddit was it? From what I read yesterday on a lesbian subreddit of all places, not even there is it allowed to state one is not attracted to TW on account of their being biologically male.

diddlemethis · 10/05/2018 13:40

Agree it is no point arguing with stupid.

Try talking to a flat earther about why the earth is round, or to someone who thinks the royal family are lizards in human skin, or to someone who thinks blowing them self up will get them 40 virgins to play with in the next life.

Sontaran · 10/05/2018 13:41

How are their peaktrans threads (or subreddits? I don't use Reddit) allowed to stand then? I'm sure they say "controversial" things.

DeleteOrDecay · 10/05/2018 13:45

It was in the askfeminists subreddit. It should really be called askliberalfeminists since rad fem views aren't really allowed there.

I'm banned from there now, not because I argued back. Another mod decided that 'transphobia' should not be tolerated at all and gave me the banhammer.

And yes I saw the recent drama about lesbians not being allowed to say no to TIM's. It's disgusting but all it does is push more women to hit peak trans which can only be a good thing.

I only started using reddit fairly recently and the libfem subreddits are something else.

Anyone who thinks a woman and a trans woman are the same is actively employing "doublethink"

It's to scary for words.

DeleteOrDecay · 10/05/2018 13:51

How are their peaktrans threads (or subreddits? I don't use Reddit) allowed to stand then? I'm sure they say "controversial" things.

So basically on reddit you have 'subreddits' that you subscribe to, which are basically individual forums relating to a particular topic. There's a subreddit for pretty much everything from video games to politics to cat memes.

Each subreddit has its own set of individual rules enforced my mods (much like on mn) which subscribers have to abide by. You can get banned from individual subreddits which means you can't post in those subs anymore but you can still read them.

GenderCritical is the only forum worth posting in over there.

I was listening to Women's Hour yesterday morning and there was a doctor saying how important it is to name and be able to discuss our female genitalia without shame to be able to identify (and therefore treat) female genital cancers. And a lot of women just don't have the words to describe an issue to their GPs because they don't have the vocabulary.

This libfem nonsense is detrimental to women's health.

diddlemethis · 10/05/2018 13:54

So it was in actuality an echo chamber. Yep crazies.

Anyone who had an arguable point would be able to defend it, rather than call you a heretic and ban you. Don't waste your time.

Sontaran · 10/05/2018 13:55

Thanks for explaining Delete.

DeleteOrDecay · 10/05/2018 13:56

Love gendercritical. Awesome sub and not how it's made out to be by other feminist subs at all.

Totally agree that we shouldn't be ashamed and women need to be able to talk about our genitalia.

I just don't understand how anyone can believe transwomen are women and be feminists. If you try to have a discussion then all your arguments (i.e. bioology & socialisation) are deemed off limits/transphobic. Have I missed something? When did this become dogma? What is feminism if we can't even talk about our biology - it's a pretty significant part of the puzzle

I would go on reddit and try to understand but it's so confusing it feels like a maze to a noob! tumblr feminism is just pictures of unicorns and lists of all the bad things in the world and memes about how awful white women are Confused

Newspeak · 10/05/2018 14:09

Like DJLippy I don't understand how one can be a feminist and not talk about female biology.

I'm fairly new to feminist theory so I'm sure the debate has been done however I believe women are oppressed due to their BIOLOGY. How can we describe female oppression without it?

women of colour for example face challenges I do not. Does it offend me when they describe these challenges absolutely not. I sit back listen and try to understand what they are going through. I have been socialised as a women however whereas it is glaringly clear most TRA's have grown up with male privilege.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 10/05/2018 14:12

The only safe subreddit for radfems is gendercritical and the ones they recommend there - all the other subs that pretend to "feminist" are modded by TIMs or MRAs. It's a disgrace that they can get away with that but reddit admin don't give a fuck. Reddit is very, very unsafe for radfems unless on GC where the mods are radfems and very, very good at their job

DeleteOrDecay · 10/05/2018 14:14

DJ I use the app which I find easier to navigate than the desktop version. Have you tried that?

DJLippy · 10/05/2018 14:19

I have the crappest phone known to man, just signed up now. So far so ghastly. Checked out a lesbian thread which said transwomen are women end of discussion. Is that the cotton celing? Angry

DeleteOrDecay · 10/05/2018 14:29

Yep that's the cotton ceiling alright. Horrifying isn't it?

DJLippy · 10/05/2018 14:37

This needs to get out there it's awful - it will #peaktrans the country. Transgenderism is literal torture for young LGB kids.

Mogleflop · 10/05/2018 14:47

It makes my head explode with the bad logic of it all.

If transwomen are women then there's no such thing as transwomen.

DeleteOrDecay · 10/05/2018 14:52

And if there's no such thing as transwomen. Why do we need rights for them?

OP posts:
ErrolTheDragon · 10/05/2018 14:57

Such bigotry.... I suppose if you posted the definition of that word (intolerance towards those who hold different opinions from oneself.) that mod would ban you. Hmm

Wanderabout · 10/05/2018 14:57

I can't believe anyone can believe someone who silences women naming biology and how it oppresses them on a feminist forum can successfully disguise themself as a feminist.

diddlemethis · 10/05/2018 15:05

It is a religion and those reddit forums are where the true believers congregate. We, the non believers are the heretics whom they want to burn.
