Is anyone else annoyed with Germaine Greers banishment to the naughty corner? She's a living icon and she's just not appreciated properly. It's a real shame the way she is no-platformed and vilified - just because she says women don't have penis'.

I wanted to share some Germaine Greer links that I love. I'm a massive fan and I'm pretty sure a lot of you guys are as well. If you could share your own links, messages, thoughts that would be awesome.

Just heard GG (corrrcted your typo) talking on woman's hour, she managed to find a problem with The comedy program on TV Mrs Browns Boys, I think she could find fault anywhere a man is involved, very sad really

I loathe Mrs Brown's Boys so does my husband (aged 64) and our son (27). It is not remotely funny. Les Dawson's northern woman gossiping with her neighbour sketches on the other hand were brilliant.

I agree, it’s dull with more than a hint of ageist misogyny - only realised that’s why I fucking hate it when GG said it on genderquake.

theredjellybean · 15/05/2018 21:54

I usually am in agreement with GG on most things but thought she was shocking on woman's hour today.
Basically felt like a telling off if you found the menopause hard.
I have just started hrt.. And it really felt personal. Her stance was it is a normal thing to happen and women should not take hrt as its all a myth they might do good, put out by big pharma companies.
She poo poohed the evidence it helps reduce risk of osteoporosis. And kept referring to hrt as steroids which gave a very warped view imo. They are sex steroids which is different to taking long term corticosteroids.
I won't be buying her new book, she was condescending, patronising and rude to presenter today and to the listeners

DJLippy · 18/05/2018 18:59

According to Ash Sarkar (a fellow panelist) Greer was drunk on the GenderQuake debate. Anyone else love her even more? Half cut and still able to wipe the floor with the rest of the panel...

She’s an intellectual powerhouse. Even on the times when I don’t agree with her I like listening to her - she argues so well. It’s wonderful to hear proper reasoned debate.

She’s one of my fantasy dinner party guests. Id love to meet her.

I am a Gransnetter, and fan of Germaine Greer in her present incarnation. Haven't been following media coverage around her latest book much.
But I did have the privilege of hearing her speak live only year. She has done a lot for Bug's Life charity and environmentalism.
Her down to earth way on whatever subject strikes a real cord with me.
Have had more than enough of over PC-ness and snowflake generation.
Wonderful to hear her say it how it is.
She has guts and deserves more support for both herself and her thoughts. Because sure as eggs are eggs what she says is right and way more people need to open their eyes and minds now before we all end up in an even deeper mess.

Really ??? so when she was on woman's hour saying that menopause does not increase your risk of osteoporosis and and it is merely something encouraged by big pharma to make money she was right was she ?

No sorry not everything this woman says is right and i used to be a really big fan until i heard her discussing menopause on woman's hour. Not only was she factually wrong, did not bother to consider scenarios such as peri-meno or early menopause and she rode rough shod rudely over presenters objections or challenges. She was also very patronising and derogatory about women taking HRT. Her attitude was menopause is normal and hrt is big pharma att its worse. No thought or consideration of the fact many women do suffer and also these women may well have the intellectual capacity to decide for themselves whether they want hrt or not. We dont need so called intellectual feminists to decide for us, that is as bad as men doing it !
