I had a go slow on the Genderquake thread too. Most odd. Still, it made me get off MN and go top up DS's dinner money account, so all good.

I went back through google and it let me onto mumsnet home page so site would appear to have been ok but then couldn't access anything else.

Yes it went down for me for around 10 mins too. I have been expecting a ddos attack for months and am surprised it hasn't happened yet!

A denial of service attack is a co-ordinated effort to bombard a website with so many requests that their server cant cope with the load and the site becomes unavailable.

Better not do anything tonight. Screw the genderquake stuff its Eurovision semis tonight and I MUST mumsnet cos it's tradition.

Yes - the site went down temporarily, but back up and running now (obviously). Tech are investigating; they aren't sure what it was yet.

Can we at least agree which hashtag to follow for the alternative MN coverage so that if a DDOS takes this site down, we can follow vicariously on Twitter? I don't have an active Twitter account, but I lurk lots.

It is probably too late to be of interest to anyone, but I tried the site checker thingy (I'm as technical as waddle ) and first attempt said it was up, but next two refreshes showed it down.

I posted on the genderquake thread, but it wasn’t showing in threads I’m on, nor was it showing in FWR. I had to type it into the search box to get to the thread.
