Here you are ladies. Read and weep, or laugh

Amnesty international, women's rights and shon Faye
OP posts:
Lemonjello · 07/05/2018 15:07

Lass I like shons writing too.

AngryAttackKittens · 07/05/2018 15:22

To be fair there are probably a lot less women willing to host Amnesty's events now than there were before they declared themselves fully in support of men's entitlement to our bodies.

OlennasWimple · 07/05/2018 15:26

Lemonjello and Lass - me too. At least, I like some of the proper pieces (not the word salad that comes out on Twitter) even if I don't agree with what SF says.

I also like reading Paris Lees TBH. Again, I don't agree with most of what PL says (except on Brexit) but PL is one of very few genuinely working class people who get regular air time and column inches, and I appreciate a variety of perspectives.

PermissionToSpeakSir · 07/05/2018 15:27

Is cunty women not allowed now?

OlennasWimple · 07/05/2018 15:27

Woah! What did I get deleted for?! (I think that might be my first deletion for something other than quoting a post that was subsequently deleted....)

PermissionToSpeakSir · 07/05/2018 15:28

Or are hairy bollocks beyond the pale.

PermissionToSpeakSir · 07/05/2018 15:28

You got deleted for quoting 'cunty women'

AngryAttackKittens · 07/05/2018 15:31

Oh FFS, this is getting ridiculous in terms of what's being deleted.

doctorcuntybollocks · 07/05/2018 15:32

I'm as cunty as they come. Perhaps I should be made an unperson.

doctorcuntybollocks · 07/05/2018 15:34

Perhaps I'll just change my name to drfrontbottomcrotchsporran.

Ereshkigal · 07/05/2018 15:36

Should be called Making Women History.

You win the internet today Grin

AngryAttackKittens · 07/05/2018 15:37

My comment that was deleted wasn't even about Shon, it was about Amnesty. Are we very naughty girls for saying that Amnesty's shift to a pro-prostitution stance is appalling now? Should we all say sorry and promise to be nicer about charities that kick us in the teeth in the future?

LassWiADelicateAir · 07/05/2018 15:45

AngryAttackKittens

My comment that was deleted wasn't even about Shon, it was about Amnesty

You were deleted for quoting what I said.

AngryAttackKittens · 07/05/2018 15:46

Which wasn't offensive either.

WichBitchHarpyTerfThatsMe · 07/05/2018 15:48

These deletions are getting completely out of hand. What's going on MN?

PhilODox · 07/05/2018 15:50

Surely Olivia Coleman is a MNer? Would she not have noticed all these trans threads at all?

Ekphrasis · 07/05/2018 15:52

Is SF covering it all day for the guardian? They often do all day live updates on things.

Ereshkigal · 07/05/2018 15:53

but why would a person who passionately wants that right to meet/talk about/protect women's rights to be stripped from women and spends so much time focusing on this accept a key role in a festival about defenders of women's rights?

Colonisation and changing the agenda.

AngryAttackKittens · 07/05/2018 15:55

Amnesty deserves to be criticized for their statement about people having a right to sex. It was a terrible statement and it provoked a backlash from lots of feminists. Many of those women used to donate to Amnesty (myself included), and thus were extremely displeased to see the direction it was taking.

Is MNHQ literally going to delete every single comment that's strongly critical of any person or organization? Is it that the word pedophilia is now banned, or are they assuming that because this thread is about SF then anything posted about pedophilia here is an attack on trans people? Because Lass's comment wasn't.

You should rename yourselves NiceLadiesBeingNiceNet at this rate.

EmpressOfSpartacus · 07/05/2018 15:55

Amnesty aren't defenders of women's rights, though. They think it's ok for men to buy women's bodies. And Shon thinks women should be erased. No conflicts there.

SophieLMumsnet · 07/05/2018 15:55

Hello all,

Just clearing up that yes, we did delete your post permissiontospeak because we did think it was pretty goady. We deleted your subsequent post, Olenna because it repeated part of it - but that was probably pretty hasty of us and we should have edited the deletion message to reflect why it was taken down. We've reinstated that one now, anyway - sorry about that.

We do think the repeat of the previously deleted post should stay deleted, angryattackkittens, but we've edited the deletion message to reflect that it was a repeat - which again, we should have done anyway.

We really are doing our best here - we don't always get it right, obviously, but we'll always hold our hands up when we're wrong. Flowers

doctorcuntybollocks · 07/05/2018 15:56

Mumsnet HQ are flailing about like a caterpillar that's being eaten alive by wasp lavae.

AngryAttackKittens · 07/05/2018 15:59

And yet AIBU remains the pistols at dawn bloodbath it always has been. Why is it only feminists who need to watch what we say? That's really not a good look for a site focused on women.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 07/05/2018 16:06

Should be called Making Women History

Love it, Vaggie Grin

Not surprised by this. It's entirely in keeping with what AI are now.

Rufustheyawningreindeer · 07/05/2018 16:06

Was it the cunty bit or the women bit?
