Not sure how I feel about this.

Register for PROCESSIONS now and join a mass artwork celebrating 100 years of women voting.
PROCESSIONS is a portrait of women in the 21st century, made up of women, girls, those who identify as women and non-binary individuals. If you identify as male we would love you to register below to support this project. By clicking ‘male’ in the gender field you’ll be able to support this living portrait of women in the 21st century by donating to the project. On June 10th, we hope that you will come as part of the audience to witness this mass participatory artwork which will mark an extraordinary moment in history.

Well, I do know how I feel...

I know how I feel. It’s a crock of shite. Women are now longer permitted to have ANYTHING, without men getting involved. The word woman means fuck all to these woke wankers.

OrchidInTheSun · 06/05/2018 05:51

I'm not getting involved in anything which is purportedly about celebrating women's suffrage but which will be dominated by men. Fuck that noise

TossDaily · 06/05/2018 06:16

Not just me then.

The irony...

FFS. Women were denied the vote based on their female biology. They were not denied the vote based on a neurological disorder that wasn't even recognised at the time. They were not denied the vote based on their feelings. If you are going to restrict a centenary celebration of women's suffrage to women, you need to use the same definition of "women" that the lawmakers used.

BarrackerBarmer · 06/05/2018 10:57

If you would have been denied the vote because you are female this is for you.

Everybody else, watch and support. This isn't about you.

Not hard.

AncientLights · 06/05/2018 11:01

My response - fuck that shit.

DuddlePluck · 06/05/2018 11:10

If you would have been denied the vote because you are female this is for you

Exactly.

Are you going to raise any objections, OP?

terryleather · 06/05/2018 11:17

Another project that sounds like it could have been a good idea that's been poisoned by inclusion - a word I'm freakin' sick of hearing when it really means include men.

Why in the name of fuck are those who identify as women being included - they are male and would have had the vote no matter how they identified.

As pps say women can have nothing for themselves.

SardineReturns · 06/05/2018 11:26

One of the main TV channels did this - in the 100 years voting celebrations they ran a 2 min or something thing in the ads, and one of the women was a TW (labelled as such).

It makes zero sense. they would have been able to vote (if they were old enough etc). Why not include a trasman, if they feel they must represent transpeople in this? That would have made sense.

It's bollocks same as this thing ^. ID is more important than facts. Including TW when you're talking about women getting the vote is so ridiculous it feels like trolling (but they aren;t).

This is presumably part of the 14-18 Processions project? The link below is to the main site and the others are to artists/organisations involved with it.

Why would it be dominated by men? I can't find the site the OP is linking to but it refers to donations from men and asking men to come along and be part of the audience. I'm struggling to see how asking for help with funding and a suggestion they come along to watch, not participate, should lead to the conclusion it will be dominated by men and similar responses.

Weezol · 07/05/2018 04:07

I have no words. I will try and find some tomorrow.
Until then, can the woke please stop culturally appropriating my history?

OrchidInTheSun · 07/05/2018 04:40

Because anything that invites participants who identify as women is inevitably dominated by them in my experience Lass. I am not talking about the male supporters as I'm sure you're perfectly aware

LaSqrrl · 07/05/2018 05:23

Hear, hear, Terry:

I commented on this when a couple of friends shared, to deafening silence.

And how many such participants would there be? And no I don't know that anything that invites participants who identify as women is inevitably dominated by them but are women really so weak and feeble?

Up to you (general you) of course - you can get involved in this, as I'm sure many women will, or boycott it on the off chance a trans woman might be involved.

ReluctantCamper · 07/05/2018 10:03

I think it's pretty reasonable Lass to point out that men's voting rights, regardless of how those men identify, have not been affected in any way by the women's suffrage movement.

including them in an art work to celebrate women's suffrage seems like a very strange decision.

is it OK with you to point this out?
