Apparently Justine's husband is now Director of Programmes at Chanel 4.
Just leaving that here.

And yes, women do have separate identities, however couples often share values. Very difficult to be a couple if you don't.

On this issue, decisions are family decisions imo. Because TRA can be such violent, misogynistic, abusive fuckers, justine's free speech stance (now ancient history?) would have put her family and kids at risk. Of course they talk about it.

TERFragetteCity · 04/05/2018 17:25

Okay, good then, so the consensus is that the recent change in policy at Mumsnet has nothing to do with this.

No I was going to post the same thing.
Weird how the announcements about the 'How to be a woman' AND Caitlyn Jenner's invite come out the same week as a policy change here.

'How to throw Women under a bus for your Hubster's career for Dummies.'

MrPan · 04/05/2018 17:29

That's really unfair TERF. you know nothing of the sort. Programmes aren't produced in days or weeks.

Deerdear · 04/05/2018 17:31

I’m a bit behind. Please could someone explain the recent policy change? Many thanks!

Pratchet · 04/05/2018 17:31

No I don't think there's a connection. You have no idea what it's like to have a massive profile and be this targeted by an irrational, sometimes violent, controlling group which either has the support of 648 MPs or has intimidated them into staying silent. Look who is caving - all institutions, researchers, government bodies, corporations - Justine has a mountain of people against her. She is doing her best, she will find a way through this. She is NOT a flake.

TERFragetteCity · 04/05/2018 17:34

That's really unfair TERF. you know nothing of the sort.

I know the things all happened in the space of a few days.

Just joining the dots.

MrPan · 04/05/2018 17:36

And drawing your own ill informed picture with them.

MsMcWoodle · 04/05/2018 17:36

I really hope not, but I'm worried.

If someone tried to insinuate that my husband's job was having a profound influence on how I did my job (to the extent that I was instituting a complete turn-around from a very public statement only a week or so prior), I would be furious.

Wanderabout · 04/05/2018 17:43

What is the point of this thread? It is bizarre.

Mumsnet has allowed women's voices to be heard in law proposals about removing their rights.

There's been slightly more media coverage of this as people have realised everyone missed a massive piece of the puzzle. Hopefully this will eventually be reflected in places that haven't so much covered this llike even the Guardian and channel 4

I don't see why who is married to who is all that relevant? What dots?

MsMcWoodle · 04/05/2018 17:46

My husband has influenced me in many, many things, and I know I've done the same to him. If we hadn't influenced each other I'd be worried, and we probably wouldn't still be together.
Well, lovely though it's been, I now need to pack for my holiday.
See you in a week.

OP posts:
Bloomed · 04/05/2018 17:46

It's been well known he took up the Channel 4 job many months ago. He won't be the only person making decisions there etc anyway.

picklemepopcorn · 04/05/2018 17:51

I do think it is an interesting connection.

I don't think it has influenced policy here, I think the TRAs behaviour has done that. MN has a difficult line to tread.

I think there is potential for a lot of conflict in Justine's house, but then again isn't there always.

Brexit.

It will be interesting to see where Channel 4 goes next, under his watch.

Gobbolinothewitchscat · 04/05/2018 17:51

What is the policy change? Is it to do with the twitter reports?

AnyFucker · 04/05/2018 17:54

Nope. Not seeing it. Whatever it is.

Opheliah · 04/05/2018 17:55

What you're seeing is a correlation but not cause-and-effect.

So we've had high profile documentaries surrounding TWAW and Transgender ideology around the same time that we've seen an attack on Mumsnet resulting in a more hardline deletion culture at MNHQ.

We've also seen two males elected into women only positions at the Labour party in 6 months (LM, HP) There's been an art exhibition celebration trans violence against women last month. We've seen 2 women being called in by the police for tweeting GC opinions. TRAs are gaining ground.

A lot more has happened in 6 months.

The MRAs and TRAs are upping their game. They are making headway and are targeting MN for being the only reliable platform for GC voices.

The increase in deletions is down to the increase in attacks and increase in genuine traffic and I seriously doubt any of this has anything to do with Justine's husband.

BoreOfWhabylon · 04/05/2018 17:58

I'd be surprised if there has been a policy change. Justine has nailed her colours very firmly to the mast.

More like whoever was running the Twitter account made the wrong judgement call.

Needmoresleep · 04/05/2018 18:00

What's OP proposing..

LTB?!

cromeyellow0 · 04/05/2018 18:03

Channel 4's recent or forthcoming output:
--Genderquake
--Drama celebrating transing of child, inspired by Mermaids
--How to be a Woman [sic] by Munroe Bergdorf

It just invited Caitlyn Jenner to lecture Parliament on "Diversity" [sic]

PhilODox · 04/05/2018 18:04

Erm, what change of policy?

Thanksforthatamazingpost · 04/05/2018 18:07

“Caitlin Jenner is going to give some sort of Diversity lecture sponsored by Channel 4. Julie Bindel is very unhappy about this. “

Me too.

Julie Bindel, link please?
