Just saw this on Twitter, my blood is boiling

I wish I was surprised/shocked but actually I am wearily unsurprised.

Wouldn't it be amazing if men who spout stuff like this just got immediately dropped for being unsuitable candidates. That would send a strong and clear message.

The shit show of other Labour men minimising and defending this behaviour is just hideous.

Have any of these people who called for violence against women been suspended or ejected from the party or asked to apologise:

Josh Connor
S. Botha
Whichever bloke it was who called Jennifer James a c**t on twitter

The fuck?

SardineReturns · 03/05/2018 20:16

This is really boring.

I know "NAMALT" but it's a lot of them isn't it, and they suffer no consequences. Which means they are tacitly supported, really.

When will the men who NAMALT speak up against men who ALT?

FetchezLaVache · 03/05/2018 20:18

A Labour Party spokesperson said: “the Labour Party takes any complaints of online abuse extremely seriously. All complaints are fully investigated in line with the procedures.”

Translation: "he's very misogynistic and fairly anti-Semitic, so he's cool."

Wanderabout · 03/05/2018 20:24

Which means they are tacitly supported, really.

Yep.

Normalising this contributes to actual violence against women (and any other groups this isn't called out against).

This article about far left violence in France being almost socially acceptable struck a few chords with what I see in the UK.

The stuff above. The 'punch a nazi/swerf/terf dialogue, the recent conviction of the TRA for hitting a woman, the song about curb stomping women if they think men aren't women even if they say they are, the Bristol masked protestors blockading people on staircases. The persistent anti-semitism and Jews feeling genuinely unsafe.

And the weird sense of self-righteous boys about it in the left, that sometimes this is justified because they are on 'the right side of history'.

The degree to which even right on MPs and party leadership don't seem to be calling it unacceptable also chills me.
