Someone has leaked confidential information on the JJ GoFundMe legal challenge

Fuckers

Update here:
www.gofundme.com/fighting-for-female-representatives

I'm very sorry to report, today, that there has been an event which may undermine our case. The solicitors advised us against publishing any legal correspondence between us and the Labour party.

Unfortunately, one of the women who was party to this information, in our gender critical circle, has leaked it and its now on Facebook. We don't know who leaked it or why, no one is admitting to it, we only know it was leaked. It's done now and cannot be undone so we will just have to go forward. This is not good. It means we have shown our hand to all and this may help the Labour party.

Suffice to say I will not be sharing any of the upcoming court case's legal stuff with anyone from now on. There will be complete confidentiality between me and the lawyers. I take full responsibility for this leak, I clearly failed to vet properly those I were included on the email list the letter was sent to.

I can only sincerely apologise to you all, events have shown I wasn't careful enough. But I promise that this will NEVER happen again. I will learn from this and hope to do better.

Help spread the word!

I'm tagging @JenniferJames so we aren't talking about her behind her back, though I suspect that legal restrictions mean that she can't say much more than in the update.

Anyway, I thought it worth sharing

I saw TRAs gloating about this on Twitter today.

TotallyLibrarianPoo · 03/05/2018 01:46

Ummm wait a sec. Who actual sent out the message? Is it someone fully trustable because the 'info has been linked, so therefore we are no longer going to tell you what is going on' has the hairs on the back of my neck standing up.

Am I misunderstanding, if so apologies, but it sure took me aback.

OlennasWimple · 03/05/2018 01:56

As far as I understand it, the message I quoted in the OP came direct from JJ, and she is saying that she sent out information to a small group of people and one of them decided to leak it so that the stuff that lawyers advised should remain private is now very public. Obviously this undermines JJ's case, as the Labour Party lawyers can see everything but have not had to disclose similar information back.

Omg. I knew nothing about this. It needed wider publication. How sad for the organisers. And natal women at large.

AnitaLovesVictor · 03/05/2018 02:24

Another blow for women. I suppose we should be used to it by now.

TotallyLibrarianPoo · 03/05/2018 04:28

Thanks @OlennasWimple ! It all feels so crazy/scary not knowing who we can trust these days and if someone has an ulterior motive.

womanformallyknownaswoman · 03/05/2018 04:58

I learnt the hard way to trust no one unless you know them in real life. I had been in a community for 2 years and was taken by surprise by one particular untoward person who keep his real motives very tightly covered.

Really sharing any legal stuff online is risky with anybody cos you never know…But I am once burnt twice shy so not judging - it is a shame

Terfulike · 03/05/2018 06:00

Is it possible that someone at the solicitors office leaked the information

Thisisafakename · 03/05/2018 06:09

Terfulike no. The sanctions for breaching confidentiality as a solicitor are very significant. It’s highly highly unlikely. It’s much more likely that it’s one of a group of people that JJ potentially doesn’t even know personally.

TerfinUSA · 03/05/2018 06:13

I'm not sure why JJ has published this tbh. She sent out the information. Did she make it clear it was confidential? And if she did, why is she making the breach public?

Mummyoflittledragon · 03/05/2018 06:20

Term
It sounds terribly naive to share confidential information, doesn’t it?

sanluca · 03/05/2018 06:22

It is amazing the guerilla warfare that is going on against women. Betrayed time and time again. I hope all the transallies are proud of themselves when they have managed to utterly destroy free speech and the right to challenge decisions in a democracy. I hope you never find yourself on the other side of a debate.

OlennasWimple · 03/05/2018 17:52

Terf - I would guess it's damage control for the campaign, as the stuff is out there now and it would only open up JJ to criticism for not being open about the breach if she hadn't made the statement

I actually like JJs response.

Accepting the severity of the issue, taking full responsibility and promising to take specific action to ensure such a thing doesnt happen again.

Very refreshing to have a response to a leak like that.

SirVixofVixHall · 03/05/2018 17:59

That’s pretty terrible for Jennifer, when she has worked so hard and put herself on the line for this. What a shitty thing for someone to have done.

LangCleg · 03/05/2018 18:02

Poor Jen. What a nasty betrayal - both of Jen and all the women who gave money. Some people are just the lowest of the low.

OlennasWimple · 03/05/2018 18:11

I agree Permission

Perhaps whoever is advising JJ could give MNHQ some advice in handling difficult situations

I think so too.

How shitty for someone to do this.

KittyKlaws · 03/05/2018 18:32

So sorry this has happened @JenniferJames, it is very hard to know who to trust.

Ofspartacus · 03/05/2018 18:34

Do we know who the leak is and are they involved in other groups?

Popchyk · 03/05/2018 18:35

I also like her response.

Lesson learned clearly.

Badgerthebodger · 03/05/2018 18:41

I’m sorry for her too. She has really put her life on the line over this, I can tell she lives and breathes the Labour Party and she must be finding it very difficult to be at odds with it, never mind putting up with the tirade of abuse I’m due is raining down on her. This is just one more thing to overcome and I’m sure it’s the last thing she needs

nauticant · 03/05/2018 19:04

The leak might not have come from a trans ally. It might have come from someone who ultimately put their loyalty to the Labour Party first.

BarrackerBarmer · 03/05/2018 21:57

How many women were privy to the information I wonder?

GenderApostate · 03/05/2018 22:07

Oh god that is awful news, there can only be one reason why someone would do this 😡
