After 5 years on Twitter with not a single sanction of any kind I have been locked out for spam/abuse.

What did I do?

I posted an update of my "Ride For Murdered Women". I posted a picture of myself and my terminally ill best friend on the boat launch at Hornsea Mere.

Oh. And I refuse to acknowledge that biological males are women.

In the past when I raised petitions to prevent the then convicted rapist and now "not rapist" Ched Evans resuming a football career I received hundreds of death and rape threats. I was never abusive in return. I took it. I reported relatively few. I was never removed from Twitter though I don't doubt they tried.

I've got a chump still who stalks me and has in the past threatened to stab me to death in front of my daughter. His accounts are all over Twitter tweeting the names of rape victims.

But refusing to deny that my sex class exists and refusing to relinquish my established legal rights as a female ..... leads to males accusing me of abuse and Twitter saying "Yes. We will stop her doing that!"

I have women who DM me to discuss their abusive situations and ask advice. I never refuse to help a woman. I usually signpost to services and offer a comforting ear. It isn't a lot but it's a lot to them. I can't do that just now.

I post my rides on Twitter and now I can't. I can't honour those beautiful dead women killed by men because some other males need me to be silent.

I am disgusted today.

Ah yes of course.

Jeanhatchet · 01/05/2018 16:55

Hi all. Thanks for the support. I complained and Twitter apologised and said a mistake had been made. But so many women being sanctioned something is iffy.

Gosh that's brilliant!!!!

lightthedarkness · 01/05/2018 17:28

That's really good news Jean.

ScarletBegonias · 01/05/2018 17:32

Indeed good news.

And last week I reported a particularly unpleasant TRA on Twitter. I heard back a few days later saying the account in question had now been closed. So they get it right sometimes.

Italiangreyhound · 01/05/2018 17:32

The world is going mad and men are turning a blind eye. I wonder if we need a female only Twitter.

Italiangreyhound · 01/05/2018 17:34

@Jeanhatchet good news. But I like the idea of a female only Twitter. I'be got a band for it but it"s a bit light hearted for this serious subject!

Ceinwen2 · 01/05/2018 17:40

For anyone who did not follow the story, Ched Evans is a footballer who was jailed, then freed on retrial, for rape. He is no doubt a thoroughly unpleasant " entitled " young man, who certainly behaved in a way no-one would defend, but under UK law was found not guilty after a retrial, when the new evidence that was produced convinced a jury that "not guilty" was the correct verdict.

Jeanhatchet · 01/05/2018 17:50

@Ceinwen2 what's your point? I clearly said all that. I was talking about his fans.

OP posts:
Ceinwen2 · 01/05/2018 18:00

Ched Evans' has his legal rights. My username may give you a clue as to where I stand. Your use of the name of a man who is legally innocent , with " " and other attempts to avoid legal risk, seems quite out of place. Referring to him as " a well know professional footballer" would have avoided that, and been fairer.

lightthedarkness · 01/05/2018 18:15

Ceinwen2
I can't see anything in the OP that breaches talk guidelines. Posters on here are well aware of the well evidenced and reported repellant behaviour of CE - we're not being told anything that we don't already know.

Jean has a long and honourable reputation for supporting women subject to rape, violence and murder. Please leave her alone.

LangCleg · 01/05/2018 18:27

Ceinwen - Jean was talking about the supporters of Ched Evans, whose harassment of the complainant was so extreme that she had to move house several times and several of whom were in contempt of court for doxxing her online again and again, and who also harassed many women attempting to support the complainant, including Jean. I do hope you are not posting to condone this behaviour?

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 01/05/2018 18:36

Google alert on 'Ched Evans' there. Probably the wife, who did enough doxxing of her own

Ceinwen2 · 01/05/2018 18:41

I don't appreciate being told to leave her alone. I'm not a football fan, and nor do I condone the bad behaviour of anyone. I 've got a point of view. If you want my point of view on the two trials, my view is based on what I hope is moral grounds. It seems that the man was not guilty of rape, under UK law. What he did ( and this is my opinion) was to take advantage of someone whose life had been for some while in such chaos that they were not in a position to make rational decisions that were in their best interest. The behaviour that was assumed to be rape, as" no sober woman would have complied", turned out not to be unique in the life of that particular individual. The woman concerned needs our sympathy, and needs support to turn her life around. Will she get it? The footballer was an insensitive fool. The " fans " who threated the OP here should have had, and I hope did in part, the full power of the law on their heads. No-one, in this whole affair, has behaved well. Sadly, I feel that the op, by using the name of the footballer, who was found innocent, is at fault as well.In my opinion.

RefuseToDenounceBiology · 01/05/2018 18:45

WRT the telephone number - why not ask someone random to give you theirs?

lightthedarkness · 01/05/2018 18:52

Fascinating view of morality you have. Fortunately I don't share it. But as we know, it takes all sorts.

TBH, a feminist board may not be the best place for you to post your personal 'interpretation' of events about CE's vile behaviour.

Jeanhatchet · 01/05/2018 18:52

I can speak of a past case and name the man in that case. Why wouldn't I? What a bizarre turn this took.

I have said he was a convicted rapist at the time a number of his fans became threatening towards feminists because he was and they did.

The footballer formally committed to prison as guilty of rape (and subsequently acquitted on appeal largely as a result of invoking the questionable section 41 of the youth and criminal justice act) was Ched Evans. Bite me.

(It was hardly the damn point)

OP posts:
Ceinwen2 · 01/05/2018 19:40

I stated my opinion, which was that no-one comes out of it well. The footballer behaved like a shit, and admitted it, but then, he would wouldn't he? That admission is on it's own worthless. We all know that. The poor woman concerned remains, I have reason to know, in a " poor place", as she was before all that happened. The people who threaten a petition-maker are behaving in a totally contemptible manner. I would like to see them jailed. The OP seems to be the only one in this case who has been motivated by a wish to " do the right thing". However use of the fool's name in that manner seems to me not to have been the right thing to do. And that is me done. Bye.

TERFragetteCity · 01/05/2018 19:41

It was hardly the damn point

You get all types on here Jean - esp at the moment.

It is just to send you a code to put in to access it again. Is there someone else's phone you can use?

WRT the telephone number - why not ask someone random to give you theirs?

I have a burner phone I could use for this if that would help you at all. Not bothered about the number remaining on file, though is there a way so that your password cannot be recovered via text? I do not have a number attached to mine and do not fully understand it. Obviously I would never do anything dodgy with your account or anything, but its the internet and I could be anyone so its worth being as safe as possible.

Might be worth ordering a PAYG simcard used just for situations like this or something, not that you should have to.

Fuck them.

OnTheList · 02/05/2018 11:25

Sorry, totally missed the update about it being sorted Blush
