Having seen previous series of 'The Bridge' and current reviews discussing 'gruesome violence 'against women in the new series,I had already largely decided to give it a miss as I am increasingly revolted by graphic scenes of violated womens bodies.
I 'm disturbed by Germaines belief that 'large numbers of women fantasise about sexual assault' ?

It is commonly understood that the popularity of books like bodice ripper romances and fifty shades of gray are an indication that women fantasize about being targets of male violence, just as the popularity of male violence both in the mainstream and porn indicates that men fantasize about being the perpetrators of violence against women.

I don't really know because none of that appeals to me. I like a good mystery but I do not fantasize about being the one done in nor the doer in. I suspect it may be a misunderstanding. With Greer it usually is.
