I'm not reassured by any of that. If upholding the EA is all it takes to protect women, why isnt it all it takes to protect transgender people?

At least the letter acknowledges the existence of women's groups and implies that we might be stakeholders (although it doesn't say it directly).

What form will the consultation take, I wonder.

Who are they consulting with currently?

blinkowl · 30/04/2018 14:35

That was a weary attempt to look on the bright side by the way!

Considering how women's groups and feminists have been totally ignored in previous consultations, it is perhaps, maybe, a step forward.

Out of every I wrote to this was actually my best reply. Half of my thinks my mp only made an effort so he keeps his vote, but then the half off me thinks he may be genuine. He protests about a lot of stuff in our area. Or have I been hoodwinked ?

If the greatest care is taken when determining which prisoners are transferred to the women's estate then they have some explaining to do.

drinkswineoutofamug · 30/04/2018 14:46

The letters I had back of the Green Party and the Lib Dem's basically agreed that the GRA needs reviewing and men should be allowed to access Women’s spaces and dismissed everything I asked. Another mp refused to acknowledge my letter as I wasn't in her constituency, but hey ho. Another Tory mp didn't know much about it and would look into it. 10 Downing st wrote to say thanks for your letter . Nothing off the Labour Party.

Drinks encouraging an MP to look into it is great. Make sure you highlight the difference of opinion of lobby groups like stonewall and the many questions about impact on women's rights raised here.

Baroness Williams mentioned protection for vulnerable women & I wonder if this means specific groups of women, like prisoners, or all of us. Or are we all supposed to be tough now?
