The article is mainly about the anti-Semitism row.

Exclusive: Len McCluskey accuses Labour MPs of “smearing” Jeremy Corbyn over anti-Semitism
The Unite general secretary warns in the New Statesman that “Corbyn-hater MPs” can “expect to be held to account”.

Denounces Labour MPs “such as Chris Leslie, Neil Coyle (my own MP), John Woodcock, Wes Streeting, Ian Austin and others” as “a dismal chorus whose every dirge makes winning a Labour government more difficult”. He accuses them of “working overtime trying to present the Labour Party as a morass of misogyny, anti-Semitism and bullying”

His actual piece is here:
www.newstatesman.com/politics/uk/2018/04/corbyn-ultimatum

Just to make clear, MPs should not talk about misogyny because its damaging to party unity to do so.

Len, this opinion piece is not a good look in its own right.

''How dare they try to toxify the Labour Party that has been the voice and hope of millions of ordinary working people for generations, including the nearly 13 million people who voted for Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour in 2017?''

You would be forgiven for thinking Len was talking about the anti Semites.

MsMcWoodle · 25/04/2018 16:00

Fuck the Labour Party. They've always had a misogynistic streak. Now they're just letting it show.

thebewilderness · 25/04/2018 17:13

"Held to account" appears to be the authoritarians latest euphemism for "punished".

Wanderabout · 25/04/2018 17:26

Wow. Inspiring.

If you question the persecution of the Jews, we will hold you to account. If you challenge the misogyny, we will hold you to account (and members will call you a cunt on twitter as a bonus). If you point out bullying we will hold you to account.

Who the fuck is going to hold the misogynistic, anti-Semitic bullies to account?

I used to vote Labour.

RedToothBrush · 25/04/2018 17:38

You almost start to think that they are trying to throw the local elections and make themselves unelectable so they can just shout 'but the Tories' at everything without actually doing their job as the opposition party.

Perhaps that is the plan...

Well it’s the same argument they used and some are still using, re anti semitism. It’s shut up or get out.

I wonder if the media will pick up on it. I very much doubt it myself.

Wanderabout · 25/04/2018 17:55

RedToothBrush I do wonder that.

It just doesn't seem like the strategy of a party that wants to get democratically elected. Is it subconscious self-sabotage? Or is there some secret master plan to brainwash enough people through social media that none of it matters anymore?

whoputthecatout · 25/04/2018 18:00

I'm not even sure it's subconscious. Who the heck would want to be in Government now? Much easier to leave the Tories to it, criticise and snipe away for now and try and get in when (they perceive) the Tories have mucked everything up, so they look good by comparison.

RedToothBrush · 25/04/2018 18:21

whoputthecatout I think part of me would actually like to believe that. If its true then it makes them at least look cold hearted strategic rather than just virtue signalling hypocritical incompetent, blinkered misogynistic, anti-Semitic bullies.

Not that I think any other party is really doing much better.

OP posts:
thebewilderness · 25/04/2018 19:16

After a period of time as the opposition party they do not even know how to govern their own party, because the authoritarians have risen to the top.

LassWiADelicateAir · 25/04/2018 22:16

Is it subconscious self-sabotage?

Have you seen the Mandy Richards debacle? (And no the Express link is not biased)
