TRAs lobbying Cow & Gate

MangoesAndMatchsticks · 20/04/2018 17:37

TRAs are lobbying Cow & Gate to disassociate with Mumsnet.

Setting aside the events of the last few days, can anyone who is able please tweet @cowandgate to show your support of Mumsnet and of the platform they give us.

TRAs are using the "whistleblow" data breach of EH to facilitate their arguments. Let's not let the damage caused spread any further!

I hope MNHQ is well stocked with gin, it's clearly going to be a long night.

AAK - indeed.

I do wish they try and at least have the grace to be even slightly entertaining bridge dwellers.

It feels like a bit of an own goal, targeting products that are bought by large numbers of predominantly women. On the one hand they say "#nodebate", and then they highlight the issues for wider and wider audiences.

From the looks of it they are targeting every product that has any kind of link with MN. Do I think a small amount of revenue from one company will have a major impact? Of course not.

But if one company abandons ship others might be more inclined to follow. Even if not, I still feel like it's worth defending MN. If you don't then that's fine too.

MBD I haven't been around much at all lately and I don't think we've . I notice you're trans. I'm so sorry that some of the trans community is having such an awful impact on those just wanting to get on with their lives. It must be shit. I'll sign for your gin. You don't even have to take the obligatory tonic. Just fill up a glass (or get a straw).

Is this now important enough to call Cow & Gate Gate?

Not just yet I don't think Grin

At the moment it seems to just be a small few (very vocal) activists.

I am not sure I'm looking at the right things but looking at Twitter I only saw about 10 tweets last night, all given a stock reply.

It's just that eejit Goolieana sending tweets to various companies. Has been retweeted a few times, mostly by the above. Hardly lobbying.

It can be useful for others to realise where the calls for lobbying come from though....

“Transgender activists have contacted Mumsnet advertisers and said they will be organising a boycott of their products if they don’t remove their advertising from Mumsnet,” Roberts said.

The website had told the advertisers that it “works hard to keep the discussions civil” and was determined to let them continue.

“What’s worrying to me is the thought-police action around speech and the shutting down of the right to be able to disagree and immediately labelling it as transphobic,” Roberts said.

YY of course ROwantrees, but I think allies tend to be younger university students, so again not really cow & gate customers. I may be wrong though

I know Rowan which is more evidence that IW is a double agent or just a bit thick. No sane person could look at Goolieana's twitter feed and think that this person was playing a straight hand.

Clutching at straws with that whistleblower defence. Doesn't come anywhere near meeting the criteria 🙄

I know they are targeting Cow and Gate purely because of their association With MN, but they must know that Cow and Gate are going to stop associating with how ever many million of their core target market in favour of a few people who won't even be buying their product?

Have they really not thought it through to that extent?! Confused

@MangoesAndMatchsticks Thanks, It is just as you say, and no-one here has tried to tell me otherwise.

C&G shouldn't be worried about MN being Transphobic, they should worry that MN will drop them in favour of Gordons or Tanquaray.
